Hey, I'm expecting my first baby (a girl) end of August and just putting together a list of things I might need. Does anyone have any recommendations for must-haves? And also are there any products you think are overrated and I shouldn't bother with? Thanks!

Also i'm not in the UK anymore, so not sure if these are available options there, but my sister used the medela pump and loved it, and I used the Spectra S2 and it was great. Both are medical/hospital grade, and i've never heard complaints about either.

Prep machine
A lot of massive knickers - I wore mine for months after! So comfy
Muslins, hand mits.
Another vote for IKEA high chair.
A big sponge for them to lie on in the bath (Amazon, baby bath sponge support)
A box to keep nappies and wipes in so all in one place
Get a variety of dummies

My top 3 would be aveeno moisturizer body wash, sudacreme and Aldi wipes!

Nothing i would avoid really! All baby products we used have been great

We used

Sudacreme
Aldi wipes
Burt's bees nappy rash (perfect for when your baby is really sore)
Cotton wool balls and pads
Dentinox cradle cap shampoo
Aveeno moisturizer and body wash
Johnson's shampoo
Child's farm bubble bath
Calpol plug in

All these have been amazing

Avoid Huggies wipes there the worst. Every baby is different so something what doesnt agree with your baby may work for others!

I wished we'd had a bouncer and play arch thing ready to go as it was a lot more hassle trying to source them 2nd hand once we'd already got a newborn to deal with. Having somewhere you can put the baby down (that isn't a cot, pram or Moses basket) is pretty useful!

You can never have too many muslins either. We had 10 babygrowns in newborn size and probably could have had a few more to make life easier. I then ended up with more than that in 0-3 months (which was too many) as we'd moved on to outfits a bit more by then!
