It’s definitely not a holiday?! 😂
but more seriously are you okay?

hmmmmm123 · 24/04/2022 09:27

@BundtCake 😂😂 furthest thing from a holiday lol!

Other than the waking up 10 times a night and feeling in zombie mode 24/7 I think I'm ok. 🤣

No of course not! But like you I was deluded into thinking mat leave would be more enjoyable and relaxing than it was.

Clearly I did not anticipate how grindingly exhausting it is to have a baby waking me every hour for months.

@LollyLol yep and my baby isn't even here yet!!! At least when they are it will them waking me up!!

I best get used to it I suppose ha! I just imagined the beginning of Mat leave before baby arrived would be more enjoyable than this and I would get lots of rest and lovely lay ins oh how I was wrong Grin

Yes me too! I was as huge as a house, and my baby was ten days late and so in the end I was induced. I kept walking miles and miles because the midwife told me it would speed things up (it didn’t). So I was exhausted. And the induction and labour was over 36 hours.

My dh was similarly naive. He ordered a new garden shed to build in his “free two weeks” holiday (aka statutory paternity leave) when our dd1 arrived. I remember shutting windows so the sound of the electric drill didn’t wake up our baby. 😆

With my second pregnancy, I was so much wiser. We saved and saved, so dh took 4 months shared parental leave and I quit my job and became a sahp for a few years.

it doesn’t matter how many threads you read, you won’t believe how exhausted you can feel until you’ve done it.

But.. being a parent… best experience in the world ever. I don’t regret it for a second.

Oh I'm hoping I don't go over but I have a feeling I will. Yeah I am also going on long walks to try get things moving but I feel no matter what I try he will come when he is ready. Could have a good few more weeks yet!

Haha I love how your DH sounds like mine. He also made a remark of how much of the garden he can sort out on his 2 weeks paternity leave. Yeah right 🤨 He has done this before as well you would think he would be a bit more wiser this time around 🙄

It's hard not to be naive when it's your first😂. I'm in for a shock!!
