Traverse baby

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby and my midwife has just told my baby is traverse. I know there is still time for them (don't know the sex of the baby but is singular pregnancy) to move but my first baby was breech and I'm a bit worried I'm going to have to have a c-section again (ideally I'd like to avoid the recovery of a c-section with a toddler).

Can anyone offer any advice as to how to encourage the baby to turn naturally? Has anyone ever had to get them turned as a procedure and did it work? I've heard it's very sore but I'm willing to try it if it means avoiding a c-section....

My first was breach and when I had my twins I was convinced they wouldn't turn either - both were transverse but somehow both turned. I refused having first child turned - I didn't like the risk associated with it. I had a c section with the twins and honestly it was fine even with a younger child to care for and 2 babies in NICU - my recovery was actually better and quicker second time round and I put that down to having to get up and about with having more than one child to care for

My baby was traverse up until 36 weeks. There’s still plenty of time for the baby to move. At 36 weeks she went breach and then at 38 weeks she finally moved into the correct position.
My midwife suggested a birthing ball which may have helped, only thing I’m sure of is it helped with the pelvic girdle pain!
Ive just had a c section and recovery is going okay. Some days are more painful than others but pain killers keep it at bay. The first few days were difficult to move around but once I got up, it’s been okay!

Spinning babies.

My dd was breech, then discovered as transverse during labour. Had an emcs.

@doingitforthegirls that's really good to hear such a positive story of looking after an older child post c-section. How on earth did you manage with twins as well?!!! You must be a bloody super woman!!!!

@Hiddenvoice thanks for the encouragement and tips. I never knew a birthing ball could help pelvic pain so I'm definitely going to dig it out the attic. So good to hear your baby turned. Makes me hopeful!

@Chanel05 thanks for the tip...currently googlinf spinning babies....

I think transverse at that stage pretty normal. My second was, after breech and CS first.
Spent a lot of time on birthing ball, and also on hands and knees (if you've got a toddler, just getting down and playing helps, I think.) Had successful VBAC with second.
Spinning babies website is good.
Good luck - hope they turn for you.

My DTs were (1) head down and (2) high transverse with feet stretched down into my pelvis. After DT1 was born DT2 somersaulted into a head down position and was delivered 7 minutes later.

I did do spinning babies during my pregnancy but not religiously. Always worth a go.

I turned DS1 by getting on my hands and knees to scrub the kitchen floor. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say Grin

That night in bed he flipped round, it was the most disconcerting sensation and I felt quite queasy afterwards, but he was head down so it was worth it.

I can't remember exactly what stage I was, but well after 30 weeks.
