Hi all, I'm on pregnancy number 6 following two severely premature babies and three previous losses, most recent was a MMC at 9 weeks in January.

I'm now 5+4 and I've been prescribed cyclogest pessaries for the first 16 weeks of pregnancy. Does anyone have experience of this and can say what their outcomes were?

I'm so anxious as we don't have a scan until 8 weeks to see if pregnancy is viable, so getting through the next 3 weeks feels incredibly stressful & drawn out.

Also, any side effects from the cyclogest would be good to know - I seem to have constant white waxy discharge and I'm worried this means I'm not absorbing the cyclogest properlySad

I got progesterone from CD 21 until 3 months of pregnancy, together with heparin injections from scan at 6 weeks.... for 3 months too...

that child is now 7 years old

I had them for ivf the waxy discharge is normal and is just the coating not the active medication.

Do lie down for 20/30 minutes if possible though.

I'm on pregnancy number 5 and hopefully baby number 2. I was on cyclogest until 16 weeks - currently 22 weeks and so far so good. They're unpleasant but so far they seem to have done the trick.

Hi, I was started on Cyclogest at 6 weeks after some bleeding and a previous miscarriage. I’m now 16 weeks, just stopped the pessaries this week. So far, all is going well (touch wood). The white waxy discharge is normal, it’s the coating. I always made sure I laid down for 30 minutes after inserting to make sure it had absorbed. I had no side effects but was warned the most common side effects are gastrointestinal upset, constipation and sore boobs but I have none of these. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I did IVF so take both cyclogest and lubion. Pretty much everyone who does IVF is on cyclogest for the first trimester. The discharge is normal everyone gets that, do not worry that doesn't mean it isn't absorbing.

I asked for a prescription for progesterone for a short luteal phase and previous miscarriage. Started them 3 days after ovulation and tapered off at 14 weeks. Am now 25 weeks.

I took them morning and night - in the morning I tried to always do very first thing and then lie in bed for a bit as PPs have mentioned. The waxy discharge is the coating. Side effect was bloating.

Oh, and panty liners, panty liners, panty liners 😂😜

Thank you all so much, it's so reassuring to hear the discharge is normal and lots of positive pregnancy outcomes. It ruins any joy in pregnancy to be constantly on tenterhooks in case of another loss

Panty liners are a must, the longer ones are better.

Cyclogest can be used anally too if the mess is bothering you.
