20 weeks, vomiting & blurred vision .. should I be worried ?

Hi,
I'm not sure if I should be worried or not but the past 24 hours I have been vomiting non stop, every hour.
I've also had 2 days now of blurred vision

I used to get this as a teen before a migraine came on but this time there is no migraine or headache.
Obviously I've not been able to keep any liquids down so just having what I can.

The blurred vision started a day before the vomiting, and this is probably the 4th time I've had it in the past 2 weeks.

Do you think I should be worried or is it is just possibly my hormones ?

I've text my midwife this evening but I will not hear back from her for a day or 2.

Any help, advice ?

Call 111 for advice I would not leave for two days

Yes - be concerned. It may be a stroke, or something else neurological, or high blood pressure. It’s probably nothing but they’re symptoms that may be something - please
flag it up.

Working9to5ish · 20/04/2022 19:22

This could be pre-eclampsia, I would go to the MAU.

Flangeosaurus · 20/04/2022 19:22

Honestly I’d go in to triage with that and if you’re too early for triage then A&E.

sorrysaywhatnow · 20/04/2022 19:23

Hello, midwife here. I'd be very concerned about pre-eclampsia, please go to your local hospital right now for monitoring / blood pressure review. Do not leave it.

Tulipvase · 20/04/2022 19:24

I’d be concerned about pre eclampsia. I think I’d call the hospital and ask their advice.

Pyri · 20/04/2022 19:24

I’d be concerned of pre-eclampsia, hopefully it is “just” a migraine as a result of hormones but you should get it checked out

hope you feel better soon

Thanks all, I've read up online & sounds like I do have some of the symptoms.

My problem right now is my partner has just left for his night shift as a HGV driver & my 3 year old is in bed.

Will have to call hospital / midwife / 111 in the morning

Hopefully the vomiting doesn't go on through the night again.
Thanks again !

I’m sorry OP and I really don’t mean to frighten you but you absolutely shouldn’t leave this overnight, you need to be medically assessed as soon as possible (2 x pre eclampsia sufferer here, you have to rule it out asap)

OP, you need to get someone over to take care of your 3 year old and go to hospital. Pre-eclampsia can progress extremely quickly and be fatal.

Hi. I am also 20 weeks pregnant and don’t think I would feel comfortable leaving this u til tomorrow, especially as you’ve already been suffering for 48 hours. I would certainly call your 24 hour midwife number or 111 so that you can at the very least get some advice from professionals.

BundtCake · 20/04/2022 19:47

Can someone come over so you can go to the hospital? You absolutely cannot wait another 12 hours.

MrsR87 · 20/04/2022 19:47

Sorry meant to add and those professionals may advise you to go straight to hospital if they are concerned and you certainly need to listen to them.

DaleTrimont · 20/04/2022 19:50

I hope you are getting seen OP.
PE can be a life threatening emergency, my mother came close to dying from PE, it progressed very quickly from symptoms like yours. Hopefully you have hormonal migraines not PE but you must get help right away.

Scamdemic · 20/04/2022 19:54

Yes I developed a blood clot in my brain from dehydration due to excessive vomiting during pregnancy, you need to get seen at hospital ASAP and have things ruled out OP, don't wait. At the least you probably need fluids.

LaurenH0893 · 21/04/2022 13:10

Hi all, just to update you.
I did call 111 and was advised to call the MAU
I couldn't get through last night & ended up falling asleep
Straight to the Drs this morning, checked BP & urine
Not suspected preeclampsia
No reason for the random vomiting
But advised if I do vomit again I need to go straight to a&e for iv fluids due to the level of dehydration.
We think the blurred vision is down to being dehydrated too , so clearly I'm not drinking enough.
Lesson learnt !! Now attached to my water bottle.
Feeling better today just tired & weak.
Thanks again all

It is possible to have a migraine without the headache, weirdly. So that could be what it was given you are prone to migraines and the symptoms were similar? Very glad they have ruled out the PE.
