Any ladies who has BBT before?

I have been doing opk alongside BBT, I got a positive opk yesterday afternoon. My BBT seems to be elevated from this mornings temp in comparison to others I have done on previous days.

I have also had some mild lower abdo cramps this morning.

If ovulation is happening/already happened what am I now looking for with my BBT? Should it be continuing to rise or will I see a dip?

Advice welcome 😊

Thank you @kalidasa so basically I'm looking for my next two temps to be higher or the same as this mornings?

We are ttc baby three! Was so lucky with my current children, I fell pregnant very quickly no temping or opk testing but that was 8 years ago now.

@allthingssparkly yes that's right. Once you see three temps which are all above the six before those three then you can be really sure that you have definitely ovulated. This rule was useful for me because especially when I was younger I often had long cycles with more than one patch of fertile cervical fluid before actually ovulating. As it happens I'm 38 weeks pregnant with DS3 as well, also with a big gap (DS2 is 7). I just turned 42 as well so was 41 when I conceived, really thought we might have left it too late. Actually I still conceived easily at this age but had a lot of false starts (presumably because the number of healthy eggs is much lower). I only took about 6 or 7 months to get one that stuck though which is not too bad I think given my age! It definitely does help to know your cycle, though after charting for years and years for contraception I noticed that as long as I had a partner we always had most sex in the most fertile period of every cycle anyway, so I suppose instinct does also count for a lot . . .

allthingssparkly · 23/04/2022 15:18

Ahh ok thanks, I'll keep an eye on my temps 😊 Hope your pregnancy is going well. I'm nearly 30 so really hoping there shouldn't be any obstacles in the way of TTC as I have never had any problems before, I think it's more a case of timing it right. We have dtd during my fertile window or at least what I think is than based on my OPK's so fingers crossed!

Hi @allthingssparkly
I used to do sticks and temp but then ended up just doing temp as the sticks where just not working for me as I think hungering things and I was missing my actual fertile days. I would get dual peaks some months, peaks not in line with CM, flashy smileys for ages. So we just decided to go with DTD every other day until I could test or AF arrived and I tracked my temp.

But it did work for us, if you get a dip a week after first one it could be implantation, I thought my period was coming early as I had terrible cramps for days and a 2 day dip but I got my BPF this month.
Best of luck OP I know sticks work for lots of people just for me didn't.

Here's my chart if it helps for your info on Successful BBT charts x

Hindering not hungering! Really wish mumsnet had an edit post feature! X

allthingssparkly · 24/04/2022 08:35

Thank you @LittleDoveLove 🥰 Really hoping this is my cycle as I've found that the OPK testing alongside BBT has helped 😊 but I get that sometimes not every gets on with both. Congratulations on your BFP! Did you do a pregnancy test once your period was late or a little earlier?

This is my chart from Pre Mom 🤞

Hi @allthingssparkly I did mine at 12DPO, line was very strong on it so could possibly be a few days ahead of where I think I am. X

kalidasa · 25/04/2022 08:06

@LittleDoveLove the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" has a section on why the OPK tests may not work / be misleading for some women which sounds similar to what you say and also my experience re: sometimes having multiple peaks. Good luck @allthingssparkly ! You're still very young, I'm sure you'll be fine.

allthingssparkly · 25/04/2022 08:29

Thank you @LittleDoveLove & @kalidasa I'm thinking of testing on the 30th April I'll be 11 DPO then. AF is due 3rd May 🤍

Hopefully my chart is still looking promising 🤞

@kalidasa @LittleDoveLove @Regenbogen22

Could this be an implantation dip or not?

7dpo today 😊

Personally I'd say it's a bit early for an implantation dip because those positive OPKs on days 14 and 15 would suggest that you didn't actually ovulate until about day 16. Also the white (rather than blue) markers on the fertility friend chart imply that you've been taking your temperature at a slightly different time the last few days is that right? Which will also make the chart harder to interpret. I think the whole 'implantation dip' thing is in any case a bit controversial -- some women really do seem to get them, but some women never have it, and some women have a dip mid-luteal phase whether or not they are pregnant.

Regenbogen22 · 26/04/2022 16:31

I only really used the temping to confirm ovulation, I read that looking for dips here and there is a bit of a waste of time, to be honest! And in most cases, the temp will stay high if pregnant.

kalidasa · 26/04/2022 19:00

Yes I have had quite a lot of conception charts (because quite a lot of very early losses as well as three successful pregnancies) and a couple had dips that could fit the criteria for an 'implantation dip' but most didn't (and quite a few non-conception charts over the years also had a dip). I believe there's a second smaller oestrogen surge in the middle of the luteal phase which can cause a bit of a dip regardless of pregnancy. If you see 17 high temps in a row though you can be sure you have conceived (and in practiced this may be true for a lot less than that -- for instance if your longest ever luteal phase was 12 days then at 14 or 15 days it is very likely a conception cycle even if it doesn't stick).

allthingssparkly · 26/04/2022 19:07

My temps have been done between 6am-6.30am it's very difficult for me to do them exactly at the same time every morning @kalidasa

AF is due in 6 days, not much longer to wait.

I didn't realize they weren't all the same until now 🙈 I use Pre Mom more than FF 🤣

Could be @allthingssparkly it's so hard to know, I didn't know mine was one until got the + test and looked back. Will cross 🤞 for you 😃

allthingssparkly · 27/04/2022 10:59

I feel the wait is so close yet so far away! I think I'm going to test this weekend 😊😊

Thank you @LittleDoveLove 🤞

My temp went back up this morning so it could well have been @LittleDoveLove who knows!

Well it's looking fine so far @allthingssparkly but still quite early days and also harder to comment when you are charting for the first time while ttc, as obviously you don't know what your temps usually look like at this stage. If all your temps are within 30 minutes of each other, that should be fine -- I see ff has filled those points in now anyway.

With this pregnancy I did have a big dip (right down to the cover line) about 7 or 8dpo, with a lot of symptoms kicking in at that point or just after, so that was quite a convincing implantation dip. But I've had other conception cycles, including successful pregnancies, without an obvious one at all. Actually the chart for the cycle when I conceived DS1 was one of the weirdest and hardest to interpret that I've ever had!

allthingssparkly · 27/04/2022 17:02

Thank you @kalidasa I'm going to test this weekend I think 😊 yesterday morning and this morning I've had very mild cramping that has literally just come in a short wave and then disappeared. I don't normally get any sort of cramps until the day I'm due on my period.

The days seem to be going quickly now that I'm busy with work, I have less time to think about the whole ttc/testing ect but fingers crossed for this cycle 🤞

@kalidasa

Are things still looking hopeful with them still being above the coverline? Temp was a little lower than yesterday as seen on the charts 🤔

I'm getting impatient now 🤣

Hi @kalidasa

14dpo today, tested yesterday afternoon and it was negative 🤔

AF was due yesterday but no sign and still no sign today either!

Temp has dipped slightly from yesterday but still above the coverline 🤷
