I'm absolutely lost, don't know where to even start with prams. Could anyone recommend a not too expensive one that folds down easily enough and is fairly compact when folded? Thanks in advance

Cosatto anything! Great brand. We've got an old model (Cosatto Wow that they no longer make) - had it for 4 yrs for DC1 and still happily using now with DC2. DC1 fit in it comfortably til she was 3 although she is quite petite admittedly. At nearly 4 she is well within the weight limit but too tall to sit in it comfortably as the hood would be in her face (we checked this the other day haha). They have good customer service with a 4 yr guarantee on everything. We used the guarantee twice - once to get a replacement rain cover as ours got all ripped with the passage of time, and again to get a new carrycot mattress before DC2 was born for safe sleep guidelines, they had no quibbles about any of that. Go with the most expensive Cosatto you can afford I think, they're all good but the more you spend the more you get for your money. Comparable to other brands even their top end stuff is such good value particularly considering the 4 yr guarantee.

I've just bought a venicci tinum 2.0. It folds down so so compact and fits in my hatchback! I did YouTube and did some research on it beforehand.

Research using your lifestyle, house space and car size (if you have one).

It totally depends on how much you walk, how rural/city you are, how much you drive, will you use public transport, can you store it somewhere at home etc.

Absolutely this.

We have the Babyzen YoYo which definitely ticks the compact box and it’s been great for us, it’s lasted 2 kids and suits us perfectly but it’s not for everyone because it’s useless off road and the basket is small.

Joie chrome! Can be purchased as a travel system (car seat, pram top and pushchair). Really reasonable price, folds down easily and feels really sturdy.

Randomly, Smyths Toy Shop stock them (among other brands) so you can go and test it out. I found John Lewis was the only other place in my area to view them but they only stocked the expensive brands!

One thing no one told me to take into account was basket size, which I think is such a huge thing to take into account.

Do you live near a John Lewis? Really recommend going in and trying some out. You shouldn't have to make an appointment, there's usually plenty of staff around to help especially if you go at a quieter time. Pram choice is really personal, what one person recommends might feel really horrible to push or be tricky for you to fold.

We had a Cosatto but DH is very tall and he had to stoop even with handles at their highest, so I wouldn't recommend if either of you are tall! It gave him a really sore back (and I found that I kept walking into the wheels for some reason too).

Out N About Nipper or City Mini GT are my picks. Both easy to fold, great off-road and on any terrain, and don't cost the earth. We do a lot of walking on country paths/forest trails, so practicality was most important consideration for us. We wanted something with sturdy suspension, big wheels, and that could take a bit of punishment! Neither are very flashy-looking like some prams, but they are workhorses!
