Pelvic girdle pain

Is it possible to have pelvic girdle pain from about 19 weeks of pregnancy or is that too early? I’m 21 weeks and about two weeks ago I had a day where I did a lot of walking in a hilly area. This lead to a twinge in my lower back area, which since then has developed into agonising pain in my tailbone/bum area whenever I take a step. It’s also agony to turn over in bed, to get up from sitting and to get dressed (putting pressure on my right leg is when it really hurts)

I thought it might have just got better by itself but it’s been two weeks now and is really getting me down. I’m normally a very active person and had been exercising all the way through pregnancy with no issues, so now not even being able to walk short distances is really depressing. I’m back to work next week after the Easter holidays and I don’t know how I’m going to cope, but being signed off isn’t an option because we don’t get paid for sick leave Sad

Anyone have any experience of this or know any stretches or exercises that could help?

So sorry you're suffering with PGP, it's a horrible club to be in. It is possible to develop it that early so do get referred to a physio or osteopath asap (or go private if you can afford it). Pregnancy yoga is good, as long as you avoid moves that are asymmetrical. Cat cows, pelvic tilts all really good. Swimming can help if you avoid breaststroke. And also using ice and heat on the areas that are sore. And really listening to your body and doing short stints of exercise within your comfort levels and not overdoing it which is so hard when the weather is gorgeous and you just want to be outside walking!!

In our area you can self-refer for physio and I definitely recommend doing so early.
