So I check my cervix semi regularly (well, DH does, when I have a particularly painful twinge etc) because my sons active labour was less than two hours and it happened very fast. He’s never felt my cervix before today, but after having some intense back pain and lightening crotch, I got him to check and he said it’s very soft and 1-2cm upon checking. I’ve been having the typical symptoms that people associate with baby preparing for labour (low back pain, baby dropping, baby’s head presenting VERY low on my last growth scan etc)

Anyone else experience this and go into labour shortly after? Super excited to meet our little girl and wondering how long most people notice dilation starting before baby showed up!

Still getting cramps and back ache, nothing that screams imminent labour but it feels like maybe she’s getting close to it now, since it’s just different to the pains I usually get

I've never got my partner to check my cervix and haven't done it myself either, got midwife sweep tomorrow so assuming I'll know if I'm dilated then, but I've been getting constant backache for over two weeks now, baby was 3/5 engaged at 36 weeks. Baby has also dropped now. But yet I'm two days overdue 😩 thought he would be here early but he clearly has other ideas.

Not sure your partner should be putting his fingers up there... there is a risk of infection. Also probably not that reliable, no offence but how many cervixes has he checked before? 😁

From what I understand after your first you are always a bit dilated at the end of pregnancy. Doesnt mean labor is coming... or not coming.

I think you should do what you are doing, observe your body, the pains, the changes etc... and just have your bag packed!
