Does anyone lift their newborn at night to feed them, a midwife told us to not let them go longer than 4 hours without feeding, ir they would end up full of wind etc, what does anyone else else do

Don't think I ever woke DD for a feed, 9 times out of 10 she woke herself after around 3 hours but if she slept longer, bonus. She's a perfectly healthy 2yo now and always gained weight well when she was a baby

No. I was told as long as they are back or birth weight and then on track for weigh gain over the weeks/ months, no need to wake.

I think mine woke every 90 mins for the first year, bare one night he slept 5hrs in a row. So I’m sure they will wake if hungry

Generally they say once they have regained their birth weight you don't have to as they know when they are hungry and will wake. I did for a while as my little one was a premie but once she got to about 7lbs I stopped.

4hrs? My doctor said no longer than 2 hrs, 4hrs is too much of a gap.

I probably would at 2 weeks personally but certainly stopped by 4 weeks!

I did a routine with mine so I’d wake to feed at 10/11pm but then wouldn’t wake them again overnight. At 2 weeks old they’d typically do 5 hours-ish, maybe 6 if I was really lucky! But that my choice to wake them in order to stretch them through the core night, you absolutely don’t need to wake a healthy full term baby providing they’ve regained their birth weight and weight gain is on track.

Yep. As others have said, once they regained birth weight I fed when they woke for it.

At 2 weeks I did. I'd set my alarm for 4 hours unless baby woke before that.
