Pregnant breastfeeding aspirin and chickenpox

So I've joined today in the hope that somebody can help me as I can't seem to find anything online that offers advice.

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and still breastfeeding my two and a half year old.

I am taking 75mg of aspirin a day to prevent miscarriage after previous losses.

The issue is, my daughter has just come down with a case of chicken pox. I've read that it is extremely dangerous to give them aspirin while they have the chicken pox virus as it can causes reynes disease which can be fatal.

Im not sure how much aspirin actually goes through my breast milk? I have stopped taking it today as she screams the house down if I try to stop breastfeeding. She wants more where she is unwell.

My question is how likely am I to miscarry if I stop taking my aspirin for 5 days or so while she has the virus?

Or should I still take it if only a little goes through breast milk?

Im so stressed and worried about what to do and I feel like im risking one of my babies either way. Im going to try and book a doctors appointment first thing tomorrow . Any advice or similar stories would be much appreciated. Thank you xx

I would phone dalriada dr and ask advice or mayb a midwife at the hospital. I’m not sure you should ever stop prescribed medicine.

You need to stop breastfeeding until you have spoken to the GP as yes low quantities can be excreted into breast milk and any amount is dangerous to children, especially children with chickenpox. It can take 12 hours for aspirin to be excreted from the body, so if you haven’t taken it for 24 hours can you express some bottles today and then carry on your aspirin dose later this evening?

At 2.5 she doesn't need breast milk. Stop breastfeeding her while she's ill. Soothe her in other ways, give her warm cow's/plant based milk in a bottle for a few days.

This is a good source for safety of drugs in breastfeeding

Bottom line is that the dose given for blood thinning is much lower than the dose given for pain relief, so the amount transferred into your milk is likely to be very low.

This is like to be a risk balance decision though, so worth speaking with your GP/midwife x
