Question for those with experience with Amby Natures Nest

Hi all,

I am sorely tempted by an Amby Nest despite the price and have just about convinced DH to get one (and return the Moses basket we bought). The only question he asked (which I have no answer to!) is what if the baby is being constantly rocked to sleep in the nest, does it make the transition to a cot eventually difficult? What has your experience been like?

Many thanks, Ax

It took ds3 a couple of nights when he was 10 months old. He was ready to move- kept trying to turn over. It was fine.

Which I'd had it for my other 2- fantastic thing. You're not local to Devon/Cornwall are you -I'm about to sell mine (raw cotton)- cheaply because I think its needs a new mattress, but with the bouncy chair thing and sheets. I don't want to go through the hassle of courier though

Good question angel1976 - I was wondering that also - I am considering one too - also wondered if they only take the special fitted sheets or will regular moses basket/crib ones work?

BTW yurt1 I am in Cornwall - whereabouts are you? - I am right down the end (West Cornwall) though and at 38 weeks not sure how far I could get to collect?

They need the fitted sheets imo -for the mattress- any old sheet blanket is fine on top. The fitted sheet has some elastic straps that hold it in place.

I'm in Plymouth seaside. Dh occasionally goes to Penzance or Truro for work reasons but I don't think he has any trips coming up.

Another Amby fan .... dd has just made the transition to cot bed (at 8 months) without too many problems. First night was difficult and then slightly unsettled the second night and then back to normal.

Not sure about the sheets... would think the mattress is longer and narrower than normal moses basket/crib - so think it unlikely that those sheets would fit

Ohhh, I'm really considering one of these too. Can I ask those of you who have used it, do you think it helped with sleep? My dd2 was a nightmare sleeper and I'm desperate for this one to be a better sleeper, don't need a miracle but every 3 hours waking would be a bonus (compared to hourly with said dd!!).
Also, angel have you looked on ebay? Sometimes a brand new one comes up but even so you could get a secondhand one and replace mattress, sheets, etc. May work out cheaper.

Yes - it really helped. Especially i think if your baby is refluxy. I wish I'd had it for ds2- he would never sleep on his back at all- ds3 was like that until be got the amby.

I had one for DS3 and it was terrific...he slept way better than my other two and moved into a cot when he was 1 year old with no problems. In the interests of fairness, I should point out that my SIL didn't like the one she had with her son very much, but I would recommend it highly, and if anyone is looking to buy one in the London area, I'd be happy to sell mine!

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, would love to hear any more stories... Unfortunately, I am not in Cornwall! ;) I don't mind splashing out for a new one if it is worth the money and it does sound like it is! I do like the fact that it is portable and I can take that with me in the first year rather than a travel cot (not from UK, so planning to visit family...). Also, I was born in Asia and slept in a hammock/sarong as a baby and would love to repeat the experience for the LO!
