39+1 does anything really work to help start labour?!

Due next Monday with baby no.2, I've got my next midwife appointment booked for 40+1 when I can have a sweep but I really don't want to get there!! Does anything genuinely work to get things moving?!
I've had a lot more cramping this time round, walking is hard work because it's very low considering it's the second one. My first came at 39+5 after waters went at 39+3, went in for induction 24 hours later but things started on their own. I just keep expecting the same to happen this time even though its highly unlikely!!

Eat fresh pineapple and play with your nipples !

Ok fairs, but that tiny an amount first thing in the morning didn't even make me go to the loo, just started the labourGrin Although pineapple and nipple-fiddling sounds more fun, would've given it a try if I heard about that in time Wink
@LK1972 what does castor oil do, please?
Gives you horrendous sickness and diarrhoea- the cramps from that force your body into false labour. Please don't.

@glowingtwig I was 38.5 weeks and had horrible SPD + two other small kids, so I really needed DS out! Tiny amount of castor oil, for me, intensified Braxton Hicks on day1, on day 2 started a labour that went on gently through the day, I got to the hospital almost fully dilated, which was great, as I felt strong enough to leave the same day. However, lady in earlier posting has posted a scenario which would certainly make research more if I've seen it. It worked for me lie a dream, but that's an anecdote, not a study, if there are any Smile

Apparently there's some evidence that acupuncture can help a bit. I'd guess you'd need to find a specialist fertility practitioner though, generalists can be hesitant to treat pregnant women.
