I'm 32 weeks pregnant and so far things have gone well in my pregnancy. I have an underlying health condition so already have had to have extra scans and tests etc but thankfully all okay and baby is fine.
My partner has covid and tried really hard to ensure we are separate, separate rooms etc. I was feeling really achy so took a test and it's positive.
I'm terrified not for me but my baby, I'm scared that I have this in third trimester as read its the riskiest time to get it and panicking someone will go wrong.

I had a miscarriage in my last pregnancy and now I can't believe I have this.

Did anyone have it in third trimester and baby was OK? I'm fully vaccinated btw.

Loads of vaccinated pregnant women have had it in the third trimester and been ok. Stop catastrophising over getting a bad cold, which is all it will be to you now you're vaccinated.

@Lilybow 32 weeks is probably the best time to have Covid if you're going to get it in pregnancy. Baby isn't so big that they're compromising your breathing but also is big enough that outcomes are really good if delivered early (not that I think that will happen but it's still a good milestone).

If it's any help at all, I have had Covid twice. When I had it in October I had Delta and it was fairly grim. I'm just getting over Omicron and it was much milder.

Thank you, I'll try not to worry

A pregnancy after a miscarriage is hard and anxiety inducing never mind having covid too. You must be really worried.
However, just try to take it a day at a time and try to stay calm. Try not to google too much it will make the anxiety worse. Often online you only read the bad news stories. There have been lots of pregnant mothers and babies with covid who have coped fine and gone on to have healthy babies.

There are lots more treatment options now if you do get unwell. If you are vaccinated you have provided yourself with a level of protection for yourself and your baby.
Hopefully it will just be a few days of a cold and you feel better soon.

I had it in my third trimester, felt a bit stuffy and run down for two days and then everything was fine. I went for a 7 mile hike as soon as I tested negative as I’d been going stir crazy indoors. I had not had my booster as I didn’t want it while I was pregnant, but I had both “original” vaccinations and also caught Covid in March 2020 just before we locked down (confirmed via antibody testing, I was part of a work study). I have many friends who caught Covid while pregnant before vaccinations, they and their babies are also fine. Even “original” Covid was a mild illness for most people, and we are in an even better position with this new variant plus vaccinations. Get well soon and try not to worry.

Hi, I had covid 3 weeks ago when I was 32 weeks. I caught it from my husband very similar circumstances to you we couldn't isolate from each other in our home. I had a cough and temperature and felt tired but other than that all was well. Ring your midwife and tell her you tested positive though as they will advise what to do. I'm now 35+2 and off to hospital in a bit to see my wriggly worm. It's always anxious time when it's your rainbow baby. This is my rainbow aswell Flowers

I had it at 37 weeks just before Christmas and now have a happy healthy 11 week old DS. Like you I worried but in reality was only ill for about 3 days. I did feel very rough for those days though... at the time I was doubled jabbed but no booster.

@Tidlo Gosh, that’s a pretty harsh comment given the OP’s circumstances and also very inaccurate. I really wish people with no personal experience of how bad it can be for third trimester women wouldn’t comment on these types of threads.

Aaaaaaanyway, OP, I totally understand your concern and I’m sorry it’s causing so much stress! Fwiw, we had a baby born into the family recently who was delivered without interventions and is now healthy as ever, even though mum had covid at the time.

The thing is, there’s really not much you can do except take every precaution possible - as @Lougle said, this particular week (32) for you actually has some upsides! I’d just try and focus on those. Good luck and keep us posted x

If your having extra growth scans dont worry, they will detect any drop in babies growth. The RCOG are advising an extra growth scan on patients if they were hospitalised with covid and their health was compromised.
There’s not many studies released yet on babies born to women who’ve had covid but reports so far are that the babies are smaller than expected at birth. BUT as your having growth scans this will be picked up if this has an effect on your pregnancy.
There is more to having Covid during pregnancy, so posters saying this need to understand that Covid during pregnancy is different to having just a bad cold during covid. This is why pregnant women are still classed as higher risk than non pregnant women. NHS staff are still not allowed to have a public facing role after 28 weeks to shield them from Covid.

I currently have covid. Not as far along as you only 24 weeks. But I have a complicated twin pregnancy. I informed my midwife about being positive and they did a risk assessment. Due to this I am taking daily blood thinning injections as a precaution. So if you haven't already called your midwife give them a call. They will also reassure you. I haven't felt great but more than able to manage at home and look after a toddler who also has covid this weekend

Roeslein · 04/04/2022 08:18

I had Covid recently at 20 weeks - it was 24 hours of fever then a cold, I was off sick for 3 days. Honestly nothing compared to the flu. GP wasn't concerned at all since like you I am fully vaccinated and boostered but did say to use paracetamol to bring the fever down if it goes above 38°C as high fever is potentially not good for baby.

Tina8800 · 04/04/2022 12:36

I had Covid when I was 31 weeks old; only had mild symptoms. Nhs didn't offer scan after, so I had a privet one. I have now a beautiful, healthy 11 weeks old baby girl 🙂
Covid won't effect your baby, but I know how terrified you must be. I know it's not a big help, but better get it now than later on in your pregnancy. Also, when I was in labour, I actually was happy I had the Covid so I didn't had to worry about it in the hospital. The baby also will have some antibodies too!

Lilybow · 04/04/2022 12:56

Thank you for your positive stories and reassurance, I'm going to rest and try not to worry too much :) glad you're all doing okay

I had it at 37 weeks. Don't assume.

sunshine423 · 05/04/2022 04:42

Hi, I had it at 28 weeks. Same boat as you in terms of being fully vaccinated and I was lucky to have very few symptoms, just the lightest cold. I was also terrified. It was already a high risk pregnancy so was under regular consultant care and on blood thinners anyway - nothing additional needed to be put in place. Baby is currently asleep on top of me. Smile I hope that you don't become too unwell with it and hopefully your midwife will be supportive with any concerns. All the bets.

CupidStunt24 · 05/04/2022 06:53

I had COVID when I was 35wks pregnant, that was Dec 2020, no vaccines or anything at that point. I was beside myself with worry, was told by the midwife that the research was limited at the time and but they were sure it would not harm baby, just said to take paracetamol to keep temperature down but that baby should be completely safe. He was born healthy and well in Jan, with no affects. Was told then that the last trimester was probably the safest time to have it. I get a little bit annoyed now seeing pregnant women being put into panic mode when they have it and the pressure they are put under to be vaccinated if they really don’t want to be whilst pregnant.

Hope you’re ok. Try not to worry xxx

missrainbowbaby · 05/04/2022 08:21

I tested positive on 16th March when I was nearly 34 weeks, tested negative 8 days later. I had one bad day where I was bed down, but I think it was mainly just pregnancy exhaustion mixed in. I didn't suffer bad at all really, apart from going stir crazy in the house. Would just advise plenty of rest, plenty of fluids, just take this time to relax as much as you can.

Fast forward 2 weeks since my first negative and I've managed to catch a cold and boy am I suffering worse with this🤦🏼‍♀️ coughing like no tomorrow, nose all bunged up. And I've read a lot of people get this backlog after covid. And I've been to the doctors and they've just said it's viral and an upper respiratory cough and cold so makes sense

Cchka · 06/04/2022 14:25

I had it back in 2020 when I was 30-odd weeks pregnant. It was a harsher disease back then it seems and I was quite ill. I just stayed in bed at home and my overall health and particularly my breathing took a long time to recover, but my baby was fine. She is now a healthy two year old. I got through it by resting as much as I could. With any luck what they say about the more recent variants being less dangerous is true and you won't take long to recover - a nice excuse to watch a lot of Netflix! Best of luck to you.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 06/04/2022 14:46

I had it at 28 weeks - I spent one day in bed because my head and shoulders and neck hurt, and another day sleeping, and then I went back to work feeling tired and very stuffy in the face. I've had more time off work for bad colds.

Try not to worry - if you're triple vaccinated you're in a really good position, and hopefully having it now will mean that you can pass some immunity to your little one and that you won't catch it again while they're very tiny Thanks
