Got a pain in the back of my calf

So Iv been very sickly for 5 days and lying in bed for more time than I’d have liked. This morning when getting out of bed I felt a pain in my calf. It’s a mild pain but it’s in one particular place as if someone is pushing their finger into my muscle. That was almost 10 hours ago and it’s still there. Not had anything like it before. Has anyone had this? I am 14 weeks

Potentially it could be a DVT. You’re more prone to clots in pregnancy and also after being in bed. You need to seek medical advice today.

Not to scare you but could it be a DVT? Definitely worth calling 111 for advice I would think.

Can you stretch your leg out level and pull your toes towards you? Sorry I can't be of more help.

JustOneMoreStep · 02/04/2022 17:15

Is it swollen? Hot to touch?....worth being mindful of a blood clot as pregnancy does raise risks (although not by too much if you don't have any other risk factors).

I had a clot pre-pregnancy which didn't present 'normally' with swelling/heat. Mine looked like a bruise but in such an odd place I couldn't think how I'd injured it. It also got progressively painful, but only in the shower when I sprayed the water directly on it. I left it about a week and it got progressively achey. Was convinced the gp was going to laugh at me for having a simple bruise but I was in for something else so mentioned it....turned out to be a 12inch DVT. Very straightforward to treat though even in pregnancy.

@Hidingunderthetableshaking yes Iv just tired that it makes the pain shoot up and down my leg. There is no redness or swelling like it says on Google

You need to call 111 asap as could be a DVT

imamumgetmeoutofhere · 02/04/2022 17:16

111 immediately due to DVT risk. Expect to end up at urgent treatment centre or A&E. fingers crossed it's not but is an increased risk during pregnancy

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 02/04/2022 17:19

When I had a DVT I didn't have any redness or swelling so you probably need to get it checked out via 111 and a D-Dimer blood test at a walk-in.

Mine progressed to a pulmonary embolism (hospitalised) so I wouldn't take any chances tbh.

Wishing you well and that it's just 'aches and pains' Flowers

TheBigDilemma · 02/04/2022 17:20

Being pregnant that could be a DVT so check that quick. But, I get it all the time, for other reason: my hip.

Apparently if you have a hip misaligned, it pulls the muscles in some way that your calf on the oposite side hurts.

It's for the best, @Nikki037297.

Wishing you all the best, and hope you'll be home soon.

Hidingunderthetableshaking · 02/04/2022 17:59

I guess you have it under control now, the pain is suggestive of a problem. glad you will be looked at soon.

Nikki037297 · 02/04/2022 18:49

Thanks everyone sat in MAU going for ultrasound soon, they can’t do a blood test they said the d dimer they check for is at crazy levels in a pregnant woman and is not reliable…. Not sure but I guess ultrasound will be faster than waiting for bloods it’s busy in here but I have a nice comfy chair

They’re correct about the blood test. D-dimers are positive in pregnancy most of the time regardless of clots.

Hope all is okay @Nikki037297
