I have already had medical attention

How do you know when to ring the hospital again about reduced movement? the midwife who was looking after me said I have a "sleepy baby".. spent 2hrs on monitor this morning & still not thrilled by the amount of movement. getting sent for another scan, should hear about it by monday at the latest

I would just ring again anytime you are uneasy , they told me to and to follow my instincts and not to worry as better to check . Was the heart trace ok?
Our baby went very quiet for 3 days when I had Covid and yes a scan can be reassuring too to make sure the blood flow is all working as should be.
Definitely don’t be shy to keep ringing if not sure I would say

baby had a couple of decelerations on the first hour of monitoring but think it was positional. I got up to go to the toilet & put back on it afterwards & she was fine, pretty consistent 140bpm heart rate

Just call them as many times as you feel the need to. They may say it’s fine and no need to do anything - so what if you call 20 times and every time they say it’s fine? Better safe than sorry. Definitely don’t just wait until the scan if you still feel uneasy.

I would ring and go back as many times as you need to until you are satisfied that baby is ok! Follow your instincts, always!

I would call again if you're not completely happy with baby's movements.
I went in with reduced movements at 29 weeks, all looked fine on the CTG and I went home but I still didn't feel baby was moving as normal so I phoned again the next day and went back in.!Again baby looked fine on CTG. Later that day I tested positive for covid.
Anyway, the midwives said they would rather I called and went in for monitoring 100 times rather than sit at home worrying.

MadameDragon · 31/03/2022 21:05

I would go back as the number of episodes may be relevant later if they are considering early induction.

Agree with MadameDragon, repeated incidents may lead to you being monitored daily (I was from 37 weeks) and your LO may need to be delivered earlier if in distress or if they identify some late complications. So definitely go back now if you're not feeling happy. There isn't such a thing as a 'sleepy' or 'lazy' baby, it's always important to be seen if the frequency or pattern of movements changes

FWIW, I went in maybe twice up until 37 weeks and then there was a clear difference in my son's movements and I went in two or three times in less than a week as I really wasn't happy. I was right, he was moving less and I spent hours on CTG and then had daily monitoring. Exhausting, but he's a happy 8 month old now, safely here, so it was worth it.

Do you have gestational diabetes or diabetes?

Do you have gestational diabetes or diabetes?

I had my GD test done last Thursday & heard nothing back so assume I’m negative. They said I’d hear back the next day if it was positive.

purplepansy05 please may I ask is gestational diabetes a cause of reduced movement sometimes? I was interested you asked OP as I’ve had reduced movement and have GD though movements have now become more what I was used to again luckily

Looseleaf · 01/04/2022 13:36

In fact I’ve looked it up and found good info here so grateful you raised it thank you

Always call and ask - that's what they're there for.

PurplePansy05 · 08/04/2022 14:17

@Looseleaf Sorry I didn't see your post as I wasn't tagged - yes, it can be. I see you've done the research now anywat, but if you have any more questions, fire away. Hope all goes well for you, definitely get checked over on every instance, it's important to log the frequency of these incidents too if you have GD xx
