I have a 7 year old, i work from home mostly, 1 or 2 days in the office. Im due end of june.
Was planning to go 2 weeks before due date but i am so so tired and struggling.

I wont go off now but im thinking maybe at least 1 month before.

Curious to see when others went?

Last day at work was on the Friday at 38+6, and DS was born on the Sunday at 39+1.

38wks. Gave birth 41wks

LoganberryJam · 31/03/2022 19:15

2.5 weeks before due date - but then DC was late so I was off work for nearly a month!

TooManyPJs · 31/03/2022 19:17

6 days before I gave birth. It was meant to be 3 weeks before but he arrived 2 weeks early. I wouldn't recommend it! I'd say go a month before minimum.

36 weeks, but I could hardly reach over my bump to intubate patients on the operating table by that point, and was exhausted wearing my lead coat for x ray procedures. My final operating list overran til 7pm, and I struggled to reach the windscreen to scrape the ice off my car to drive home. Happy days…back in 1990!

Monday at 36 weeks 🥳 although I always knew I'd be having a section at 39 weeks. I'm actually now probably going to be having a section at 38 weeks as baby is SGA. I'm on holiday until 38+1 so may not actually start ML until the day baby is born.

MrsTimRiggins · 31/03/2022 19:24

Technically I started maternity leave the day before my c section, so 39+4 but I’d had three weeks of annual leave to use up so in reality, I was off from 37 weeks.

Gemster19 · 31/03/2022 19:56

Planned to work until my due date as was convinced I'd go overdue - took an early lunch break 39+5 as felt a bit funny, was in labour by 1:30pm and DS born (and therefore may leave started) 39+6

babydays123 · 31/03/2022 20:01

Currently 38wk+1 with a chance I'll be induced next week due to slightly slowed growth and have yet to start mat leave! 😫

I own my own company and have realistically about 3 weeks worth of work to get out the door before I can close things down.

Race against time. I can't wait to stop and rest

Donimo · 31/03/2022 20:02

Took 3 weeks annual leave at 37 weeks. With plan to start mat leave at my due date. But baby came at 38 weeks so mat leave started early. This time (twin pregnancy) will have planned c section at 36 weeks. So will go on annual leave at 34 weeks and then start mat leave at 36 weeks.

sprockermummy · 31/03/2022 20:04

DD1 I was due to leave work at 37+4, she was born 36+5 so was still technically working and DD2 left work 36+1 and she was born the next morning 🤣

bogoblin · 31/03/2022 20:06

Mine started at 37 + 5 and he came at 38 weeks! Luckily I'd used holiday so I did have plenty of time off before he arrived

bruffin · 31/03/2022 20:09

DS went on maternity day I went into hospital with preclampsia at 32 weeks

DD was born the day I finished work at 37 weeks

TheGriffle · 31/03/2022 20:11

Annual leave for week 37 then May leave from 38weeks. Dd1 was born 40+11.

Dd2 I was due to go on Mat leave on my due date with annual leave the week before (worked part time then 2.5 days a week) finished my half day on the Wednesday and dd2 born the Monday after 2 days before my Mat leave was due to start.

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 31/03/2022 23:07

I finished approx 5 weeks before due date, 2.5 weeks were holiday and 2.5 maternity. As it happens, I was only off 10 days before baby was evicted.

I was ready to go then.

2021mumma · 31/03/2022 23:10

3 days before csection.

I’m so glad I did work to the end as now I have longer with the baby before starting back at work
