Did your baby have it? If not, why not?

superram · 30/03/2022 10:14

Yes, why wouldn’t you?

pradavilla · 30/03/2022 10:15

Yes both kids had it.

N0va · 30/03/2022 10:24

Yes

Lubeyboobyalt · 30/03/2022 10:25

yep

FTEngineerM · 30/03/2022 10:26

Yes, I’m a woman of science

DisforDarkChocolate · 30/03/2022 10:28

Yes. I'd have to have a clear science based reason to refuse.

romdowa · 30/03/2022 10:28

I actually have no idea if my dc Had one or not

WildCoasts · 30/03/2022 10:30

Only one of my six had it. My children are probably a bit older than some of yours and at the time there was some controversy around it that had sprung up. My midwife wasn't keen on it as routine either. So no, we didn't.

Hugasauras · 30/03/2022 10:31

Yep.

JurassicPerks · 30/03/2022 10:34

DS1, I was on the fence, but he was an assisted delivery, which tipped me to yes.
DS2 was an unplanned, paramedic assisted, homebirth. He didn't have an assisted 3rd stage or vit k.

BertieBotts · 30/03/2022 10:36

I opted for oral with DC1 because I hate needles and couldn't bear the thought of him having one. It also seemed safer at the time for reasons I've now forgotten.

DC2 and 3 were born in Germany and they only give it orally here so had that again. Although I am less anxious about needles now I was happy with that.

TulipsGarden · 30/03/2022 10:37

Yes of course, it's recommended so why wouldn't you.

APurpleSquirrel · 30/03/2022 10:39

Yes, both DC.

axolotlfloof · 30/03/2022 10:42

Definitely with DS1 in hospital.
I honestly don't remember DS2 having it. He was a home birth, but we wouldn't have said no if offered.
I don't think there are any particularly good reasons not to have it.

Frenchie8690 · 30/03/2022 10:44

Yes. The consultant advised it so I followed her recommendation. Didn't know it was controversial

JustMeAndThee · 30/03/2022 10:44

Yes, the midwife advised it. I followed all medical advice throughout both of my pregnancies.

Whatafielddayfortheheat · 30/03/2022 10:46

Yep as it is advised. What are your concerns?

thebabynanny · 30/03/2022 10:47

Two of mine had drops. 3rd one they bullied me into having it injected.

pbdr · 30/03/2022 10:51

Absolutely. If your baby was one of the unlucky few who had a spontaneous intracranial bleed after you had refused the vit k injection you would never forgive yourself.

bakewellbride · 30/03/2022 10:55

Yes, both children. Why wouldn't u?

Peaseblossum22 · 30/03/2022 10:56

Yes all three of mine , although can’t remember if injection or drops

October2020 · 30/03/2022 10:56

Yes. You would never forgive yourself if the worst happened because you hadn't given it. My daughter was in NICU and the nurses I talked to about it there all agreed that it was the most traumatic thing they'd ever witnessed... and they see a LOT.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/03/2022 10:57

I remember when I was pregnant and learning about drops vs injection, that it felt cruel to inject a newborn baby. However, they’ll have the heel prick test anyway and because I had gestational diabetes the baby’s blood sugars would need to be monitored, so I figured it was one injection amongst quite a few. We also ending being readmitted and she had a few blood tests while they checked her for jaundice, which is quite common and not down to the GD. At that stage they don’t really react to it, if they do, they settle easily with a cuddle. By the time you’re giving them jabs at 8 weeks they recognise pain more. In terms of them experiencing pain and their cry as a result, first jabs are worse.

dementedpixie · 30/03/2022 11:00

Yes, both did
Was easier and faster than having to give drops

Spud1130 · 30/03/2022 11:03

I assume so. Can't remember but was an assisted hospital delivery and I certainly didn't tell them not to.
