my oh is in the forces and is due to go away at the end of the month. Im very anxoius about the birth and have only a few people to hand to look after ds so need oh at home with me to take charge iykwim and keep me calm.Im due sat 12th jan and feel like this baby is never going to come and may make a last minute appearance just before dh has to go back which isnt ideal. I have a mw appmt friday but not sure how long they will take to arrange an sweep so was thinking of seeing my GP this afternoon or tommarrow to see if i can get one booked for early next week if baby doesnt arrive before.

My mw appmts have been very rushed as only have 10mins appmts most of which shes testing my wee, feeling baby and heartbeat, paperwork etc i often come out with questions unanaswered and forgotten perscriptions. Not very impressed at all as soon as i walk in the door shes complaining shes running behind and it has to be a quick one grrrr but i guess thats another storey. Anyway so wondering whether my Gp would be best as they seem to give more time or is it down to the mw to decide.

I think you should phone your mw and ask to make an appointment to talk ab out all of this, perhaps at home or at the end of her appointments. I don't know if there's much point in talking to the GP as presumably he/she'll have to refer to the mw anyway. You could also try some of the techniques to hurry labour along, although there's no guarantee they'll work!

just feel like i cant really talk to her ive started being sick the last few days and can feel baby digging around in my pelvis so perhaps he will come soon. I just dont think i could face sex or another curry......

I can understand your worry but having been induced it is the last thing I would want to have again. I could be wrong but I doubt you will be induced before you are full term without medical reason.

Hi Mum2sam,

Im due on the 12th Jan to, and am feeling the same. My Dh is also in the forces and we are based overseas. If baby comes much later i will be bombarded with family, giving no time for ourselves to get used to being new parents.

I cant tell our parents not to visit as they will be heart broken, but i have other family that have pre-booked there flights to visit aswell, so if this one is late i will have a steady flow of visitors which i cant bear the thought of if little one is only one or two weeks old!!!!

I want to be induced but am really not sure who to speak to, as my outpatients appointments i have the doctor is so not with it sometimes!!!

Being induced is crap, you are stuck being monitored and the pain tends to be much worse as the body has not built to it naturally, so you are less likely to be able to cope/more likely to need intervention. Fortunately though the medical profession knows this and is therefore not going to induce you on the basis of convenience however difficult the personal circs. Also the baby will generally come when ready. If your baby is not ready why would you want to rush him out unless medically necessary? The waiting game is lousy but there are reasons for these things.
