Early scan after previous ectopic pregnancy?

I had an ectopic pregnancy 6 months ago that ended in December. I have just found out I am pregnant again and have everything crossed for a healthy pregnancy but am obviously so worried about it being another ectopic especially given the risk is higher now.

I've spoken to the midwife today and she said I won't be given an early scan at all and will have to wait until 12 weeks.

Is this procedure? I assumed they would scan around 6 weeks to rule out another ectopic. I'm feeling extremely anxious now and don't have any appointments with her until I'm 7.5 weeks along.

@eastview congratulations on your pregnancy, that's fantastic 🥰
I had a few private scans with my DS (first pregnancy) and they were great, however, I paid for an early scan with my latest pregnancy (the ectopic) and they said no sign of pregnancy anywhere yet the day after the EPU found the pregnancy near my ovary within minutes so I can't lie that's definitely swayed me away and put me off paying the money for private ones 😩.

I've been advised to call the EPU back as soon as I reach 6 weeks to arrange an early scan, so I'm hoping they'll be able to find a heartbeat & baby in the right place! 🤞🏼

Had early scans every time due to ectopic and miscarriages x

Just say you have some one sided pain even if you don’t. Best to get it checked as chances are higher after one ectopic.

Fingers crossed for you x

Also had an ectopic and had an early scan. Tell them you want one. Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy.
