15 weeks and feeling rough with Covid

I’m on day two of Covid and it’s knocked me for six. I had my booster jab a few weeks before I fell pregnant, so thought I would be well topped up for a bit to go. I have mild cold symptoms, but my head feels on fire, and my eyes just feel quite hot. I’ve spent the day in bed just staring at the wall.

I’d previously had an antibody test, that came back saying I had had Covid (it would have been delta), and I hadn’t even known. It possibly left me a bit complacent that I’d be someone who is asymptomatic. Still, I was super careful and always wear a mask, but the day I got it I would have travelled on a bus (with a mask) and also been around shops (again, always wearing a mask).

Do you let your midwife know you have it? Or a doctor, or ride it out? I don’t have any appointments coming up, so I can be quite isolated.

I'm on day 4 and feel so much better than I did. The first two days were dreadful, sinus pain was just so so bad, shakes, slight fever, body aches etc but definitely turned a corner now, still having sinus pain but it's manageable now. Are you keeping up on paracetamol? You can have the max dose if needed just no more than that in 24 hours. I told my midwife just because when I had my booking appointment I was told too if I caught Covid.

I'm 11+5 and also fully vaccinated, it didn't seem to make any difference for me it still hit me like a train.

Hey sorry to hear! You should definitely let your midwife know. They’ll send you a oxymeter monitor so that you can monitor your blood oxygen levels and heart rate every day. They will also assess you to see if you need blood thinners, because being pregnant and covid can put you at a higher rate of blood clots. Although not everyone needs blood thinners - I did, but got told not all woman do.

I had covid round about when you did. I felt so rough for about 3 / 4 days and then started coming around. Drink lots of water and take it easy.

I had my 20 week scan and baby was / is absolutely fine.

I'm 19 weeks and on day 5, also spent a lot of day 2 staring at the wall! I'm still a bit tired and cold-y but much better each day so hopefully this is the worst for you. Do call your midwife, mine did a screening for blood clot risk to see if you need blood thinners.

Thank you both. I’m already on aspirin as the placenta isn’t working as it should, so the aim of that is the thin the blood (I think) to increase flow. I will get in touch to see if I can get an oxygen monitor - thank you for the advice.

I will have to check if I can use paracetamol on top of the aspirin
