Dental treatment before getting exemption

Hi all. Currently approx 10 weeks. I have my dating scan in 5 days so won't be able to apply for my NHS exemption until then and even then it will take time to arrive. I'm having toothache in a broken tooth that was patched up during covid that they couldn't fix properly due to restrictions. I'm pretty sure I'm probably going to need an extraction or a root filling and crown but either way I would end up paying for it. Does anyone know if there's any way I could still get treatment done for free given that I'm pregnant now but just waiting for a due date?

Yes it’s fine. Just tell them you’re pregnant and the due date. They may ask for your card, just explain. They can’t refuse you.

Is your dentist appointment before your scan? Will they do the work while you are pregnant? My midwife did my exemption certificate via email in January, it arrived before I even left the appointment.

I was a few weeks pregnant when I went and mentioned I was pregnant, they didn't charge me and I didn't have my medical exemption certificate

When is your first midwife appointment? My midwife applied for it there and then online and I got it sent through within minutes. The exemption card is usually backdated by 30 days anyway, so as long as you get it within 30 days of the treatment it will be fine.

I went to the dentist the other day at 5 weeks pregnant and didn't get charged. They just told me to bring in my certificate when I have it.

Thank you for your replies.
@bonzo77 @tealandteal @ChloeHel I haven't got a due date but have had my booking appointment. The midwife gave me a form to send away - no mention of email! It would be so much easier.
@scoutcat @3ormorecharacters I will give them a ring on Monday and explain the situation. Hopefully they will treat without me having to pay. My worry is that if I go on Thursday for my scan and the baby isn't OK, I won't get a due date and then I won't be entitled to the free treatment anyway and I'll have to pay a charge for false claiming.
