Am I wrong?

This is my third pregnancy and my last 🤍

My DS was delivered naturally, I was 20 at the time, very naive and didn’t know what I was really expecting. I went into spontaneous labour at home at 41+4 and had a very quick albeit painful Unmedicated delivery, it was overall a good experience but I did feel very out of control of the situation and myself.

My DD was delivered by emergency c-section 5 years later, I had complications through out the pregnancy that meant I couldn’t go over 40 weeks and ended up being induced at 38+3 it was a very long drawn out process that took its toll on me physically and emotionally. It came down to a failed induction after 4 days of no progress and no induction methods working, on the final day I had a hormone drip which finally put me into labour, which to me was worse than before and I never progressed past 4cm so after 10+ hours of that I was taken for an emergency section.

Really what I’m asking is am I wrong to opt for a elective section this time? From the moment I saw the 2 lines on the test I thought to myself I’m having an elective this time. I don’t want to feel like I’m throwing the towel in before giving it another shot but I found out the day I have the same complication this time as I did with DD and I just feel like for once I want to feel in control of my birth and this is the only way I feel I can achieve that. Sorry for the long post

If you've had a previous C section, this will definetly be a an option for you. Your consultant should talk to you about it at about 30 weeks so please try not to worry xx

I stated from the get go with my midwife thag I wanted a c section. She was lovely and said we’d discuss it the further I got along. At 28 weeks she asked if it was something I was still considering. She made me feel really comfortable and didn’t push a natural birth onto me. She booked an appointment with a consultant at 34 weeks and we discussed c sections and why I would prefer to have one. No judgment was given, they just needed to note down why I wanted it. It was consented that dah and I’m booked in for a few weeks time.
In Scotland, they can’t really refuse a c section.
If a doctor isn’t comfortable with the idea then they have to pass you onto another doctor who is.

I think you’re right to ask for a section. If your consultant refuses, and I doubt they will due to the previous one, ask to be passed to one who will.
Tell your MW/GP from the off what you want .
