Hi There

I have just started to look at prams and the Bugaboo Chameleon has caught my eye as being on of the highest rated on the market. I looking for a puschair/ travel system with the following features:-

  • lightweight
  • easy to fold - will need to use car a lot
  • will use a train sometimes so will need to be train friendly
  • suitable from birth
  • suitable for use on beach and a bit of off road use
  • does not need to be too compact as large boot in car (audi A3).
  • option to have baby facing to front and towards pusher
  • carry cot
  • extendable handle bars!!

Any advise would be great!!

I have to say in addition to my earlier post I don't think I have ever seen a buggy that is good for all ages and types of use.

The bugaboo pram is great and the pushchair when they're very young and/or you are walking a lot from your front door, also across fields and parks.

but put the bugaboo near a car and it's terrible. Do not try to take on a plane or a bus... absolute no no as they are in two parts and very bulky.

For shopping/ quick car trips/ plane/ bus trips the Maclaren ( I have the quest)is fab, light, easy, small when folded.

I think unfortunately any face-both-ways-pram-come-buggy-come-clip-on-car seat-etc-etc is heavy and/or hard to fold and adjust BUT great for comfort, long walks, etc.
Umbrella folds are the reverse....

Simple solution that most people end up doing - BUY TWO BUGGYS, ooh and then a third - a double buggy when DC2 arrives sooner than expected.

I got my cameleon with free maxi cosi from lullabys online. They were great. I wanted the new colours last summer and they hadn't come in when baby was born 4 weeks early so they sent me another colour and then sent the new one a week later. All very helpful and constantly in touch.
I love the bugaboo- walk miles round London and use on the buses all the time(never have to fold it). V easy to steer with one hand and can put loads of shopping on the handles. Don't use the car much but it is a bit of a pain to fold and unfold.
Baby sleeps in the carrycot like a dream (still does at 5 and half months) and used it for overnight trips for the first couple of months.
Def worth the money (altho have just bought a MacLaren Quest for taking on planes)
(Mountain Buggy is wider than a Bugaboo BTW)

I am a huge Bugaboo fan and would never part with mine - but I think freddies YM has it spot on.

..top tip - for those of you who might live in the Glasgow area, the Glasgow Pram Centre is currently selling the cameleon with free maxi cosi..I was quoted £629 for red fabric with dark grey base.

I've had a Bugaboo Frog for four years and it's still going strong with DC2 so I think it's actually been good value for money. I love it - it's so easy to push compared to other heavier buggies and the steering is excellent.

The only issues I have are those already mentioned:

buses - get around this by always getting on a bus via the back door (you get used to shouting at the driver)

air travel - the travel bag is not very good and you have to take the Bugaboo apart and take the wheels off. This either means doing this at check in and trying to manage a baby right through the departure lounge (impossible imo) or rushing to take it all apart at the gate which can make things a bit stressful and downright impossible if you are on your own. I got a Maclaren for about £100 instead. I only use if for travelling so theory is that it can be sold on for a decent price eventually as it's in such good nick and the Bugaboo will sell as they hold their value so well.
