Covid19 a week prior to birth

I’ve currently got covid, as has my partner. My baby is due in a week and I’m wanting to know if anyone has experienced having covid prior to giving birth.
My main question is, when going to hospital procedure is to test the mother, but does this still apply if you’ve had covid within 90 days? Hopefully I’ll be symptom free by then, but would I still be required to test, or not due to a false positive?
What have your experiences been?

Just posted on another covid post so thought I'd share here, too!

I was positive at 38 weeks and had go postpone induction.

As far as I know, they will want you to LFT before going in if you have a planned date (induction / section) and then PCR when you arrive.

I was postponed until negative but if you were to go into labour before, you are just whisked into a private room with additional PPE.

If you're not going on a planned date, then they would PCR when you get there. If you explain that you have recently been positive, then they'll just LFT instead as PCR will show false positive.

That being said, I was in for a total of 11 days and was only LFTed on day 3!

I hope you're feeling okay with covid and you're getting plenty of rest xx

Thank you that's very helpful, my partner also has covid at the moment. My concern is it they make me test for it that it gives a false positive since I've so recently had it/have it. And then protocol would be to test my partner, if his came up positive too would t they send him home? I just thought you'd couldn't rely on accurate tests within 90 days on infection.

I think it differs between hospitals but they'll know that a PCR will throw up a false positive if you've so recently been positive (and then are negative) so it's likely they'll only LFT, which is accurate during and after infection time.

Again, it was different between hospitals when I posted on here in a panic in Jan, but for me, I was told my partner wouldn't be allowed in hospital at all if he was positive (on an LFT).

We were lucky in that my partner didn't catch it but even so, they didn't test him until after baby was born (we stayed in a week after).

Make sure you shout about the fact you were covid positive this week when you're in hopsital. My body was running on total empty and I was then put through an agonising four day induction process to then end up emergency c-section. It's since been decided that I should have been offered the section much earlier as the recovery was torturous!

Get lots of rest, lots of fluids, and good luck. You will be amazing xx

That's all so hopeful thank you. I'm sorry you had such a difficult experience and I hope everything's lovely for you now! I'm absolutely exhausted right now, 9 days till due day so hoping he stays out long enough for me to shake this and regain some energy!
