Baby dropping or inaccurate scan measurements??

Hi there

6 weeks ago I had a growth scan where my baby was measuring way up in the top percentiles, scared them hell out of me and started to worry I may have developed GDD. I'd had the test 4 weeks earlier which was negative so the midwife said it's probably fine and booked me in for another growth scan 4 weeks later.

At this scan the baby measure around the 50th percentile, a much more friendly size but because he's dropped I was booked in for another 2 weeks later.

That was today, was measured by a student trainee and again the baby had dropped, just by a tiny smidge though.

Again, I'm booked in for 2 weeks time with the view to induce me if dropped again.

I just don't know what to think really, have all my measurements been accurate or had this situation been created by a series of circumstances.

Placenta, blood flow, fluid and babies weight gain are all positive.

Baby currently weighing 6lb 10 at 36.5weeks so a Bonny size.

I was banking on being able to deny induction at term (I'm 40 so that's suggested) as my two other babies were both late and my worst nightmare is being forced into a labour before my body is ready and having a long labour that leads to a c-section anyway.

I obviously want to do what's best and safe for baby, but I also want to explore all my options.

Has anyone got any experience with this, whether a medic or in their open pregnancy x

I’m measuring big just now and had a negative gd test. I’m still big 4 weeks later so been sent for another test to double check.
I have a feeling thag when I go back for my next scan thag the baby will have dropped too.
Last scan the sonographer who was very experienced called for her colleague to come and double check. Did the student trainee have anyone with them to check?

The scans can be very inaccurate, but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be much else to go on. I was induced as my baby hadn’t gained enough weight at 38 weeks from 2 weeks previously. Scanned that morning, and induced the same day, my baby was 9oz smaller than they had worked out from the scan. Had they been worried she was growing too fast it would obviously have been a good thing, but as they were concerned about her growth, I was very glad I had been induced. Although like you, I desperately didn’t want to be.
