Ds is due in 2 weeks time and I'm thinking more about giving the birthing pool a try. I didn't want it with my first 2 but now considering it.
So I'm wondering about other womens experiences with it. I know it will be different for everyone but I'm just interested in how others have found it/ if it helped.
Dsis for example was convinced her whole pregnancy that she was going to give birth in the pool then got out after about 2 minutes as she didn't like it

I had #2 in the pool and honestly it made very little difference to me. No change to the pain at all. It was quite nice to be clean(er) after the birth but I had to climb out shortly afterwards to deliver the placenta so had to totter up the steps and over the side with umbilical cord still attached to both baby and me. Didn’t bother with the pool for #3 and 4.

I laboured in the pool for both of my births but each time it slowed down my progression and I ended up having to get out. It was lovely while I was in it but I was propped up on my arms for ages and my shoulders hurt for a few days afterwards. A post partum symptom I wasn't expecting!

Give it a go. You can always get out.

Thank you so much for everyones replies. It's nice to hear about other womens experiences. I think I will give it a go, I'm going to the mlu so like a pp said they have one in each room so I'll be good for availability. They also said to let them know when I phone to say I'm heading in if I want to try it so they can have it filled for me.
