9 weeks pregnant - horrible headaches

Hi all,
Currently 9w and having awful headaches around my right eye and right side of my head. This particular one has lasted two days now. I've been reluctant to take painkillers but had to cave and tried paracetamol, first just one tablet but when that did nothing I tried 2 but it hasn't helped at all. Pre-pregnancy the only thing that would help my headaches was Anadin Extra which obviously aren't safe to take now. I feel so sick with it and have no energy to do anything at all.
What do/did you all do to combat headaches at this stage? I know they are common but I don't know how to handle it when it's this strong and I can't take anything to take the edge off.

Hi congratulations on your pregnancy 🥰 the only thing which helped me were the cool and soothe migraine forehead packs. Hope this helps x

Iv had this recently so
I appreciate your pain! Paracetamol a dark room and quiet and a sleep is all that helped. I'm
13 weeks
Now and they are much improved.

Congee! M water water water ! But I would make an appointment with your GP just to rule out anything because headache although common can be signs of other things! Piece of mind

Tiger balm on my head worked for me- you can get a white one so it doesn't stain your head 😂. It's about the only thing that worked while I was pregnant although I won't lie it wasn't a miracle cure and only took them off slightly never fully. Think mine stopped around the 15/16 week mark xx

Two paracetamol (normal adult dose and safe in pregnancy), lots of rest and lots of water.

Posted too soon! My understanding is it's an increased oestrogen and progesterone that causes it. I suffered the same from weeks 7-12 but they've cleared now.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone, some good suggestions here. Will have to pop and see what I can buy to put on my head to try and soothe it. This pregnancy is still a secret so it's hard not being able to explain why I feel so rubbish all the time! If this one hasn't shifted tomorrow I will give my GP a ring just to see what they say.

I had the same! They were awful and would wake up in the middle of the night, even if I was fine when I went to bed. I presumed it was dehydration but no amount of water would help. I succumbed to normal Panadol as the midwife said it was fine. They have stopped now and I'm 12w so hopefully they don't persist for you for much longer.
