So I took a clearblue test and it's told me I'm 1-2 weeks, which would make sense as I ovulated 2 weeks ago...however pregnancy apps are telling me I'm just under 4 weeks....I'm so confused

I used the NHS gestation calculator & also my Flo app, they came to the same date. The NHS one is probably the best one to use as my midwife worked out the same due date as their website Smile

Your dates are calculated from the first day of your last period, not from when you ovulated.

Those pregnancy tests give you estimated date since ovulation I believe. Which is (on average) 2 weeks after you started your last period. Pregnancy is measured from the date of the the first day of your last period, and is 40 weeks from there.

Ahhhhh that would make sense as to why the dates were different! Thank you! I'm a first timer so very nervous & pretty clueless 🙈

I think the tests are mainly benefitting people with irregular periods, as then it’s obviously much harder to work out ovulation. But they’d still need to add on 2 weeks to get to what their “official” dates are so I’m not sure why the tests don’t just change their display to add two weeks on.

You’ll get a specific due date at your 12 week scan anyway, which may differ slightly from what you’re expecting if you maybe ovulated a couple of days later/earlier than average. That’s what will go down as your due date for maternity leave/pay purposes, and on your midwife notes etc.
