Sleeping on side

I know sleeping on your back is not good when pregnant, and that sleeping on your left hand side is the best thing to do but I feel I'm struggling to stay sleeping on my left side. I usually sleep on my right but I've seen this isn't too safe either ? Can anyone please confirm if this is true or not, I can't get comfy on my left side but obviously don't want to turn if sleeping on the right is dangerous also x

Sleeping on either side is fine, as is sleeping on your back until it's uncomfortable. Which week are you in? If you prefer sleeping on your back then try a wedge pillow or just a normal pillow under one side of you so you're slightly angled off your back, that's what I do. I hate sleeping on my side!!! I got one of those U-shape body pillows which admittedly helps.

Depends how far along you are as the not sleeping on your back advice isn't really until third trimester. There's a lot of scaremongery stuff about only sleeping on the left but Tommy's who are the charity that promotes the Sleep On Side campaign say that either side is fine, and scientific studies back this up too www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/sleep-side/sleep-side-pregnancy-campaign#:~:text=The%20MiNESS%20study%20did%20not,to%20sleep%20on%20either%20side.

I struggled so much with this that I gave up. I had to, I was in pain sleeping on my side no matter how many pillow fortresses I built. It also made my raging heartburn worse. I now sleep on my back but propped up with pillows, midwife says it’s absolutely fine as I’m not totally flat and I’m finally getting some sleep (aside from the 80 million loo trips) I’m 34+4 and this way of sleeping doesn’t seem to be causing any problems - the lack of sleep was though!

It's sleeping on your side or tummy (until tummy is uncomfortable). No sleeping on your back which is after the third trimester especially, as it increases risk of stillbirth.

If you find you're rolling onto your back, don't worry too much but try and put pillows there to prop you onto your side.

I previously this exact query. I'm currently 38 weeks and almost exclusively a right-side sleeper. I was really worried it was unsafe and only the left side was OK (so much scary "info" on Google!) but I'm pleased to confirm that my midwife said right-sided sleeping is perfectly safe and won't do any harm. I've stuck to the right ever since!

She also said that I was likely to wake up naturally if I rolled onto my back as the weight of the baby would be too uncomfortable.

The nhs website says sleeping on either side is fine.
