Maternity pay question

Hi everyone,

Just a quick mat pay question. I'm lucky enough to qualify for enhanced maternity pay. In my contract the actual sum payable for each of the four months I'm entitled to it, works out to be the average of two pay periods, which for me will be based on Feb and March.

I work permanent salaried for one part of my job and teach on zero hours for the rest, all with the same employer. My wage for both parts of my job is combined and paid to me once a month, and I'm taxed etc on that.

Having a hard time getting through to HR so I just thought I'd check my logic with all of you. If my enhanced mat pay is based on an average of two pay periods, it sounds like they understand the income can be variable and they'll count my zero hours income in the calculation too, right?

TIA. My brain is mush.

Best to ask your HR really. The HMRC way of working out mat pay is the same, so they may have just copied that but what they actually include in your enhanced pay, as it's not statutory, is up to the employer.
