No morning sickness, zero zilch

I'm 8 weeks pregnant, have absolutely no idea what I'm doing or where to turn to. I don't want to tell people that I'm pregnant because I have an underactive thyroid and most people I know with a UAT have had numerous miscarriages....

So therefore I can't reach out to the very few friends I have who have had a baby.

I'm 33 this month. Today I called the Dr surgery to tell them I'm pregnant and they gave me the midwife phone number (which is only open 3 hours a day so I'd missed the slot)

I'm suffering with terrible fatigue, spending 10 hours a night sleeping with a cheeky nap if I can get one when working from home.

Boobs are a bit sore like I'm due on

But I have zero sickness. I had one bit of sickness weeks ago before I even knew I was pregnant and that was after a glass of wine. It just hit the toilet bowl within minutes!

Should I be aware of anything?

Are you asking if the lack of sickness is a problem? If so the answer is no, not all women get sickness. Good luck with your pregnancy!

Aquamarine1029 · 16/03/2022 00:00

I never had a single second of sickness with either of my pregnancies. It doesn't mean a thing. My babies are adults now, so it clearly doesn't matter.

Nikki037297 · 16/03/2022 00:08

Not everyone gets sickness but personally I do so the time I didn’t I knew something was wrong but if you don’t get sickness then that’s ok not everyone does

SingingSands · 16/03/2022 00:11

I had awful sickness with my first pregnancy and none at all with my second. It's not always the case that pregnancy = sickness.

MrsBertBibby · 16/03/2022 00:13

Like you, I couldn't stomach alcohol before I even knew, but never otherwise had MS. Bit of a heightened sense of smell, at most, but not always even that.

Good luck!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 16/03/2022 00:16

Only 1/3rd of pregnancies have clear nausea as a symptom. My mum had 2 completely healthy pregnancies with an underactive thyroid and no sickness. Make sure you mention thyroid to midwife but don't worry too much x

HappyAsASandboy · 16/03/2022 00:25

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Zero nausea, in fact zero symptoms, can be entirely normal. I have four children and have never had morning sickness. I was always knackered though, particularly in the first half of pregnancy.

Enjoy your lack of nausea!

wfrances · 16/03/2022 00:27

I've also had 4 children and no morning sickness

Firstly, congratulations!

Secondly, while there is a link with hypothyroidism (under active thyroid) & MC, this is only if it's not managed.

As long as you are being managed by your GP, it's fine.

You do however, need to increase your dose of levothyroxine - has your GP spoken to you about this?

iamsoreadyforbednow · 16/03/2022 01:15

My first pregnancy I had nothing, I felt great all the way through. No sickness at all, no fatigue.. I felt better than ever I just wouldn’t have known I was pregnant.

I’m just coming to the end of my second pregnancy and again, no sickness, no nausea.. but I have been tired, I could owe that to being pregnant and chasing a toddler around though!

All very normal, everyone is different.

Trinacham · 16/03/2022 06:37

I didn't have any sickness with my now 7 week old son, was a very smooth pregnancy! I didn't feel pregnant a lot of the time (until the obvious bump and kicking later)

LondonladyTTC · 16/03/2022 07:34

I had absolutely no sickness until yesterday at 8+3 when I had mild nausea in waves. I was a little concerned as just haven't been feeling pregnant (apart from the tiredness like you!) but all my research and seeing posts like this makes me realise that it's completely normal.

Lollypop0101 · 16/03/2022 09:12

I had no sickness at all until 12 weeks when it's meant to die off! Which only lasted until 16 weeks then completely went and I'm 23 weeks now so don't worry :)

Waitingforasign · 16/03/2022 09:39

I had no sickness, or symptoms of pregnancy at all, and only really started to feel pregnant when I started to get a bump (20 weeks plus). I was petrified going to both my 12 week and 20 week scan convinced there would be nothing there. But here I am cuddling my absolutely perfect 3 week old.
I also have an underactive thyroid, which I spoke to my GP about and they kept an eye on my levels and increased my medication accordingly.

Bluebellsandbroomsticks · 16/03/2022 09:42

I had no symptoms at all my first pregnancy, currently pregnant with number 2 and had mild nausea between 6 and 10 weeks but that's all. Enjoy the lack of symptoms, it has no bearing on the success of the pregnancy at all!

Congratulations!

Told them yesterday. I'm booked for bloods today so we can monitor my thyroid as I am quite sensitive to the medication and it tips me into hyper quite easily. Thank you for the reassurance

Haha look at your username! I just don't really feel pregnant! But it's panicked me! Thanks for letting me know it is ok to not spend half my day being sick

I had no sickness at all during my pregnancy and my brother even asked if i was actually pregnant before i had my 12 week scan. My little one is now a week old so my advice is enjoy not having sickness & dont worry about it 😁 everyones bodies react to pregnancy differently.

KalvinPhillipsManBun · 16/03/2022 11:45

I never had any sickness at all with any of my 3, the tiredness will go, just rest when ever you can. Congratulations!

FindingMeno · 16/03/2022 11:48

I had no sickness whatsoever with two healthy pregnancies, so try not to worry Flowers

trevthecat · 16/03/2022 11:51

Another one over here with no sickness. 3 healthy children. My mum and sister also didn't suffer with sickness

The ladies I do know who have been pregnant have always been really sick! So I just thought it was part of the protocol. Thank you though Smile

That was my equation, pregnancy = dog rough all the time. That's what my friends suffered with

I love how helpful everyone has been so thank you. Absolutely put my mind at ease!!!

I have no idea what has to be done next, midwife informed and been told they'll call me next week to book appointments.

I feel a bit alone as my friends have either had kids years ago or don't want any. The joys of having a baby in your mid 30's!

Ditto! Never complain!
