This is gonna sound silly because I know people have so much higher results/ratio etc but this is 3rd baby for me and previous 2 have been 1 in 10,000 chance for Down syndrome, just got my results through this morning for this baby and the Downs results was 1 in 6,923.

Like I say I know others have way worse results but I'm confused, I'm only a year older than last one, I am slightly heavier but not loads.... I know its low chances but with history of miscarriages and small babies that get delivered early I just didn't need another stress

There's a 99.99% chance your baby DOESN'T have Down's syndrome, that's a really really low chance!

I am not sure how the statistics work but maybe you have gone into a 'new' age category, e.g. turned 35 or 40, and that means that the risk of having a baby with DS is increased.

EllieJai44 · 14/03/2022 13:34

@FusciasBright21 I know it was more the fact of why it was so different from previous 2, if I was so much older etc I could understand as such!

I have just received my results following a scan and blood work, my NT measurement was considered very low and my chance of downs was 1 in 7000 which I see as absolutely nothing to worry about. Your age and weight will be taken into consideration but if there was any risk as such you would be informed.

FusciasBright21 · 14/03/2022 13:38

They also look at hormones and proteins in the blood test, so there's lots of other variables not just age/weight which are taken into consideration.

That’s a miniscule risk of DS and it’ll be slightly different hormone levels which have changed it this time. It’s also quite a small change from 10,000. Mine doubled in 2 years (but was still low).

My first was 1 In 78,000 my second 1in3600. It didn’t worry me
