Water wipes or cotton wool

When I had DC1 I was told in ante natal classes to only use cotton wool and water for nappy changes which I duly did but it was such a faff! And I found cotton wool would moult everywhere and id be picking sheds off her bum all the time! Or it would be too wet and then have to dry her etc. Plus not easy when out and about.
Due to have DC2 in a few weeks and would much rather use water wipes. Is that allowed? Are they ok for newborns? Or will the midwives tell me off!!

Wipes are fantastic in my experience. I used from day 1, well actually, the nicu did. I’d say the therapist there who was fantastic told us to keep a clean cotton rag at the changing area and pat dry after using wipes to prevent nappy rash, as it is caused by dampness in the nappy. We did, and we never had it once. I think someone else mentioned it above, but very much worth raising awareness of I think.

There are extra large cotton wool. O found these worked without leaving behind fluff.

All the best

Cotton wool pads or reusable. Water wipes gave my newborns rashes.

Reusable wipes for the win. Most supermarkets sell them now aswell. Just easy and work better than any other wipes

I hated water wipes. They are so wet and cold. Baby would be squealing. Will just be using cotton wool at the start this time dipped oil warm water and a Muslin to dry

The water wipes packet I got free in an NCT welcome pack were recalled due to mould found in some of the packs - put me off using them!

I use wet wipes to get the worst of the poo off then cotton wool/cotton pads for the rest. If we're out then I dispense with the cotton and just use the wipes.

The wipes we get are biodegradable and honestly so much less fuss than cotton.
