I'm 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant, I contacted the midwife team 2 weeks who said they'd refer me, I rang today and I still haven't been referred and I cant get hold of the original community midwife team who said they'd refer me to the hospital... I'm getting worried and don't know what to do to get an appointment... feels like nobody wants to help

You won’t see the midwife until about 10weeks and a scan apt will come through the post shortly after this. For around 12 weeks.
I think it’s too early to except to be referred yet to be honest!

Midwives don’t usually get involved this early on.

If you think there’s a problem, speak to your GP or the Early Pregnancy Unit (how you access this will vary across the country, but GP/ 111 will probably be able to help).

If you just want to be ‘in the system’ that won’t happen for a while yet.

You won't be referred until 10 weeks. You won't hear from them until then. That is just normal practice.

You won't be seen until 10 weeks but I got my appointment date a few days after I did a self referral.

See if your hospital does self-referral, I don't think it's uncommon.

Or maybe your GP needs to refer you.

You can self refer to your local maternity unit, you don't need anyone to do anything for you to refer you.

You will then get a booking in appt between 8 and 10 weeks (mine was at 10.3 a few weeks ago) at the hospital, and then a 12 week scan appt.

Community midwives you won't see until 16 weeks I think and you arrange that with your GP surgery separately.

Congratulations and good luck!

First time I saw the midwife was 12 weeks. I thought I'd been forgotten about, it's worrying when it's your first baby and you don't know what to expect. It is then norm though that you don't really see anyone until around 10/12 weeks unless there's been a previous issue.

Dont worry I didn't get to see a midwife till 11weeks at my booking in app. Huge delays in NHS so think this is more the norm now rather than 8/9week booking apps and meeting a midwife
