Hi everyone.
My partner made a nandos chicken using a mild flavouring spice and lime. Even tho it said mild on packet it was still quite spicy. I think they use birds eye chilli's.
I'm 17 weeks pregnant and just worried that the spice and heat from it will hurt baby or cause miscarriage. (I've had one before, which is why I get worried)
Any reasurrance??

Its absolutely fine, what could a spicy food possibly do?

Garman · 09/03/2022 18:48

I knew it was the same person before I even looked at the post history. You need help with your anxiety, have you gotten that since you were advised to on any of your previous posts about the exact same topic, insane food concerns in pregnancy?

Jupiter92 · 09/03/2022 18:57

Hi OP, I have read a number of your threads in the past regarding food worry and other worries. I would agree with pp and advise that you speak to your midwife about this because this is a very high level of anxiety. It’s not good for you to be feeling this stressed and anxious every day. I hope you can find some help with this.

MamaFoxToBe · 09/03/2022 19:02

I'm sure chilli is fine and won't affect baby.

I know how bad the worry can be during pregnancy after loss. I've been a nervous wreck some days. I'm currently pregnant after a missed miscarriage last year. I would definitely talk to your midwife and ask to be referred to the perinatal mental health team.

Sending hugs, pregnancy after loss is rough.

Are you getting help for you anxiety issues?

TyrannosaurusRegina · 09/03/2022 19:09

Honestly it's fine. I get it though, I've had miscarriages and worry about everything tiny little thing. Think about it, women in some Asian countries who have spicy diets have healthy children all the time.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 09/03/2022 19:11

Do you not possess any critical thinking skills? This really isn’t ok

PotteringAlong · 09/03/2022 19:16

Why would Nando’s spice and lime sauce hurt your baby? What would it possibly do?

RosieRoww · 09/03/2022 19:18

I think it's fine.
I used to eat spicy curry when pregnant with my twins- and it was always fine.:)

Lady0racle · 09/03/2022 19:20

Eating chilli won’t harm your baby. You do realise that many cultures routinely eat highly spiced food?

Your constant anxiety is a problem though. With kindness, you must address this as a matter of urgency. Your mental health is paramount.

WhiskersPete · 09/03/2022 19:21

How do you think people in countries that eat a lot of spicy food cope?

Luclou · 09/03/2022 19:40

Thanks for all the reassurance, it's nice to hear that baby will be okay. Just sometimes it's difficult and rather just ask.

And I have been referred to a perinatal mental health team last week, just waiting for a response.
Thanks again Flowers

I've just read you post history. You've said you're getting help for your anxiety but are you? Because these are non issues as has everything else you've posted and If you're only posting about the stuff you're really worried about im worried about how much you're worrying about in general that dosent make it onto these threads. Please please make sure you speak to your midwife xx

thingymaboob · 09/03/2022 19:51

@Luclou think about all those millions of pregnant women in countries where spicy food is the norm. Glad you're getting help with your mental health
