Hi, ladies! I need some advice and support. So, after 2 years of being careful, 2 vaccines and a booster, I got the virus at 32 weeks pregnant. So I called the midwife center just to be told nothing. The lady started searching through some papers for general guidance. I am aware of all the general guidance, I need real help. My state got worse in 3 days, high fever, severe cough, a lot of pain and distress, yet, no one to see this "serious enough" for a check. Is this normal?? I mean, do I need to wait for a serious shortness of breath so I can get intubated? Or wait until the baby won't move so they will just add me to the statistics? I find it so dangerous to ignore a woman struggling with a virus in her 8th month. And absolutely no alternative treatment or ideas. No pulseoxymeter offer, no anti clots injections, like I've read from some of you. Just same bull... and rambling about waiting and if it gets serious blah blah. Well, it gets serious, that's why I called again after 3 days, when the midwife said they will contact me but "forgot". I find this situation so abusive now, all motivated by covid. On one side, there's the gov lifting all restrictions and people acting like the virus never existed, and on the other side there's NHS building walls between their medical services and us, the patients. I feel so down and helpless, Im worried for my baby and don't know who to call or what to do. I don't have a midwife or a doctor, they are always different people when we talk. I honestly feel the whole pregnancy is treated with lack of interest, but this now is like the last drop. Any input is highly appreciated, any advice, any idea. Thank you and sorry for the long message. I just feel so alone in this country, no one to ask, no family or friends. xx

I'm in a similar boat to you but am 27 weeks. There is so much mixed guidance online and I expected some kind of assurances from the midwife and I'd heard about an oxymeter and blood thinners but nothing. I don't even think they took my name down or anything. As I had been breathless was told to call 111 but waited 4 hours and hadn't called back. In the end I spoke with my GP and they saw me as I explained I was getting really anxious - I've not found pregnancy the easiest - my BMI is high, IVF pregnancy and suffered a lot with anxiety.

Still feel like I'm being left in the dark. Just been told to rest, drink fluids and to call back if I am more breathless or reduced movements.

If you are worried about yourself or baby, just keep calling them I would. They still have a duty of care even if you have COVID xx

Oh, this is really sad, @jodesxx, so sorry you go through this as well. Hope you feel better soon and things will be fine again. Really frustrating to be advised by midwives to call 111. I got that too and it makes no sense. Besides, those questions are always like some sort of traps, you never guess the winning answer and in the end just "stay home and drink fluids". I told the midwife that paracetamol works weird in my case and increases the fever. After a few min, she said I should continue with paracetamol, as she never heard of such strange effect before. Well, I'm a particular case then? She didn't seem to listen. I told her this is my first pregnancy and later she asked how is it with my other child. Ummm...ok.

I hope you both feel better! I had a Covid when I was 30 weeks (thankfully, I only had mild symptoms) I was extremely nervous about the baby, asked my hospital and my midwife for a scan to make sure everything was fine after the Covid but they refused saying Covid is not enough reason for them to gave me a scan. I also felt like my whole pregnancy was treated with lack of interest; I guess that's happens when you are low risk.
Eventually I had a privet scan after Covid, and it was all fine. I have a healthy, strong 7 weeks old now so I belive she wasn't effected by Covid. But of course you're worried, and they should pay more attention to you especially now!
