Could this be my baby moving and squashing me?

I’m 24 weeks and have felt very little movement due to my anterior placenta. Bubbles and a few thuds, but sometimes she will be quiet for a few days at a time. Midwife is not worried as I have weekly scans and she can hear baby hammering away and I am none the wiser. Scans have also seen good blood flow and no issues. Baby currently weights a pound. If nothing changes from 26 weeks I will be monitored move heavily- but scans and doppler show she is kicking about furiously but I can’t feel her Blush

I have had a new sensation since Wednesday that I have never experienced- please see diagram Grin At the top of my bump I feel like I am being pressed. It’s very gentle and feels like a flat, pressing movement if that makes sense. I’ve looked down to see if my lanyard is stuck or I have sat too close to my desk, but there is nothing external causing it.

Could this be my baby stretching out and squishing my organs together? I know she isn’t big enough to be in my ribs yet, but I didn’t know if she’s having a knock on effect elsewhere.

The red is where I feel the pressing.

Could this be my baby moving and squashing me?

Yes it could very well be the baby depending on positioning. If baby is head down, then you may be feeling their legs kicking towards your diaphragm, or if they’re breech position it may be their head pushing upwards.

It could also be general stretching and growing of your uterus, as you’re 24 weeks now and you’ll start getting noticeably more pregnant!

You’ll get all sorts of new sensations around that region, some are definitely baby kicking and others are just weird growing pains!

Thank you for replying :)

I’ll continue to monitor it. I really hope it is her so I have some feedback. It’s so frustrating to be waiting a long.

Yep felt like DS was going to crack my rib for most of my last pregnancy!

I love the doodle. I'm 23 weeks and don't feel anything even though I've a posterior placenta. Getting impatient for movement. Once I feel something I'll do a doodle

strawberrysummer19 · 05/03/2022 08:36

@Suprima I love the doodle ! You're very lucky of your boobs being so high up! I'm jelous 😀my boobs are killing be underneath especially my left one as I only now sleep on my left side and have done for a while even though midwife said it's still early, just getting into practise!

I have like an ache and pins of needles feeling in that area you've shaded but I'm only 19+4 so worry for when I'm bigger

With my first I remember feeling horrible rib pain so not looking forward to that!

@RubyRoss interesting about the moment as I'm worried I haven't felt much! My midwife said I should be by now even now anterior placenta which has worried on me but spoke to a fair few people who say it's been later so trying not to worry although it's hard - I have covid at the moment and feel so unwell

X

After posting last night, I did feel a movement. A very low thud under my belly button that was repeated a few times. It was pretty faint so I only noticed because I was in the bath reading. I wonder if I've just been too busy to notice before

I’m nearly 22w and often feel a bit numb in the same place at the top of my bump which is apparently quite normal.

My baby moves a lot but generally I can only feel her quite low down, just north of my hips.

Porridgeislife · 05/03/2022 11:03

@RubyRoss I’ve got a posterior placenta and almost never notice her when upright or busy. I mostly feel her when lying down, and I can feel more through my hand on tummy than I can internally if that makes sense? I think it’s pretty normal at this stage.

strawberrysummer19 · 05/03/2022 11:18

@RubyRoss that's good then
I think a lot of movement is missed due to being busy and moving around
Any movement I think I've felt does tend to be higher up and at the sides not low down but i think I'm carrying rather high
I feel quite big bump wise for 19wks x

My first baby HATED me sitting down. In the last trimester I had to drive for 2-3 hours a day and it was distinctly uncountable for me. Her feet would absolutely hammer my diaphragm and pop out by my ribs. It made me feel very queasy and I was glad to deliver her!

TheresALight · 05/03/2022 11:34

I had this and found that not wearing a bra often helped - had to wear 2 vests under my top if going to work! I also had a small memory foam pillow which I would put behind my spine whenever I sat down as it helped me to keep my spine long and stretch out the achy part of my bump.
I think it was just caused by having a shortish torso and the position of the baby, she seemed to be head down, bum on one side of my ribs and the legs curling around to the other side. I would mention to your midwife top tho just make sure it's normal aches and pains.
