I've just been prescribed this and was asked by the midwife to check the dosage with my GP as she wasn't sure.

The GP said the guidelines have recently changed and the dosage is 150mg now. It used to be 75!

GinnyBee · 03/03/2022 10:23

I've been taking it since I found out I was pregnant again due to previous losses. There's no harm in taking such a low dose and it can prevent future complications so deffo worth it. I'm taking 150mg.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 03/03/2022 10:29

I'm taking 150mg, have been on it since 12 weeks.

Miller2021 · 03/03/2022 10:31

I was advised the same due to age (I'm 41) - 150mg per day for me. They've told me to stop taking it at 36 weeks.

GestationalDiabetes · 03/03/2022 10:32

I’m 43 and was told to take 75g

littlemissalwaystired · 03/03/2022 10:37

My Trust updated its guidelines recently from 75mg to 150mg.

K2012 · 03/03/2022 11:08

I was told by my gynaecologist consultant to take 150mg from week 16 up untill giving birth if you are high risk.

Littlebutload · 03/03/2022 11:25

I'm on 75mg a day prescribed by my consultant becuase I had pre-eclampsia at the end of my last pregnancy

Sunnierdays7 · 03/03/2022 12:11

Thank you all. For this taking 150 do you take both at same time or 3 separate doses in day x

I'm on 150mg per day for hypertension in my previous pregnancy. I take both mine at the same time but you can split the dosage into 2x75mg tablets. Make sure you take them with food - I found out the hard way they are tough on your stomach. My midwife suggested taking them separately to combat this but I was too forgetful to do it twice a day so just have mine with dinner.

Sunnierdays7 · 03/03/2022 12:47

Thank you for the advice x

annlee3817 · 03/03/2022 12:58

I'm taking 2 x 75mg each day

Sunnierdays7 · 03/03/2022 12:59

Think I’m going to take another this evening as second gp seemed very sure. Thank you x

They should do you a prescription for the gastro-reistant enteric coated ones

Kaw10 · 03/03/2022 13:22

The very cheap ones are gastro resistant and cost around a pound a pack I believe. It costs the NHS way more than this to prescribe generic low cost medication like paracetamol, aspirin etc so please just but it yourself!!

I started myself on 75mg after ovulation, at my 12 week appt the gynaecologist told me to up it to 150mg daily due to risk of preeclampsia. She said to always take it at night.

Pamparam · 03/03/2022 13:32

I take 150 every night. I just buy the cheap 300mg ones and break them in half, didn’t realise there were special coated ones 😬 (although I wouldn’t use NHS resources to prescribe such a cheap thing)

Kaw10 · 03/03/2022 13:33

*buy it yourself. Not "but" Grin

annlee3817 · 03/03/2022 13:42

I didn't request the prescription, just got a note to go and pick it up from my local pharmacy, assumed it was because those particular ones were prescription only 🤷

Porridgeislife · 03/03/2022 13:47

I take 2 of these every evening. They’re easy enough to toss in with the online shopping order.

I take dispersable ones in an evening. I dilute them in an inch of water and drink it half way through my dinner.. generally because it gives me terrible stomach acid, drinking it in the middle of the meal helps avoid this (along with prescribed acid medication omeprazole)

GinnyBee · 03/03/2022 15:43

I take dispersible ones in the evening with dinner. I don't dissolve them though, just swallow with water like a normal tablet! I've also had the enteric coated ones, depends where I grab them from - supermarket seems to have the coated ones and pharmacy has the dispersible ones. But I prefer the dispersibles as they are easier to pop out of the pack 🤣 For some reason I've now had 3-4 packs of the coated ones that I've had to pretty much cut the tablets out of as the backing is so strong!

Carebear99 · 04/03/2022 02:14

I'm on aspirin. They told me to take 2 75mg tablets over a day, dissolved in water

K2012 · 12/03/2022 15:08

When do you take the aspirin, with breakfast or in the evening?

Cakecakecheese · 12/03/2022 15:39

It's recommended to take it in the evening with food.

NorfolkBird · 12/03/2022 18:20
