Hey all, my baby boy is due June 2022😻😻

I have bought a few bundles all varied ages.

My questionnn is how many of each months did you purchase ?

How many newborn and all the following months would you purchase?

What else was essential for your new baby?

Thankyou !!🤍

I didn't go for a specific number of anything but probably 10 vests, 10 babygrows and a few nice outfits per age range because blow outs can catch you by surprise.

Congratulations on your little one!

Don't buy much newborn, maybe a couple of packs of sleep suits and vests as depending on babies birth weight they may pass newborn sizes by. If you need more you can always order online for next day delivery. For other sizes probably what PP said, 10 vests and sleep suits plus a couple of outfits. You'll get brought loads anyway.

All the newborn/first size I bought were too small , she was 8lb11

A few of each size until you know what they'll fit in

As long as you've got a few to start you off, you can buy more when they're here and you know what size they need. Don't panic about needing their entire wardrobe in place before they arrive.

I have a 4 day old and she never fit into newborn (9lb 4.) Luckily I had only bought a few newborn outfits, they are already stashed in the attic in case we are lucky and have a number two. We are straight into 0-3 months (bit long on the arms but fine) from M&S. We have 10 sleep suits and 10 vests, and have just done an online order for another 5 of each which seems plenty. We also have a couple pairs of leggings and a set of dungarees. 3 cardigans, a couple of hats and a tuppence/crumble star wrap. It seems like a good amount, enough to not run out but for everything to be used. We don’t expect much clothing as gifts though as we asked family not too. They’ve provided meal deliveries and such which is lovely!

I'm due mid-May and have focused on 0-3 for now as he will be wearing them eventually no matter what size he is born. I have a couple of newborn ones and 1 month ones too, but they're so tiny he may not fit into them for very long at all, and if he's a small baby I can buy more.

They can go through like 4-6 changes per DAY so depending on how often you want to be doing laundry, you'll want several sets of clothes. Not all babies are so messy though, but best to plan for the worst case I think!

I also haven't bothered with outfits at all. I intend to have him in body suits and sleepsuits for the first few months instead of fiddling with outfits.

Everyone says babies get through loads of clothes, but actually Ds didn’t. He’s very been a sickly baby, and nappy never leaked.

Newborn never fitted either.

Also don’t get too many sizes in advance, it’s easy to think it’s helpful but if baby is bigger or smaller than expected, or then grows quicker or slower, you end up with various things in the wrong season. Ie long sleeve vests too warm in summer, and then don’t fit by September

I would aim for 6 of size 1 months, and 0-3 month in sleepsuits and short sleeve vests. Can buy 0-3 cardigans and roll sleeve up first few weeks if smaller. Then once baby of born get extra of the appropriate size

I overbought with my son. He never wore the set of cute little outfits we got him as a new born and was basically in onesies every day until around 3 months. He had reflux so was sick a lot meaning lots of changes but cloth nappies meant we didn't get poo explosions at least.

I'd say have ten onesies, ten vests and a few cardigans and hats in newborn and 0-3 months and that should keep you set for a while (baby size dependent).

I bought in advance, took advantage of sales and had way too much because other people bought us stuff in the later sizes, and gave us stuff, so this time round I'm just going to get a few bits for the first month or so and then go from there

Duracellbunnywannabe · 03/03/2022 12:24

For my kids loads! But they both had server reflux due to allergies. DD1 was in up for one months baby grows for a week before she was too big for them.

Fleur405 · 03/03/2022 12:27

Not too many! I had growth scans every two weeks and was expecting a baby a little over 6 and a half pounds… she was born yesterday at 8lb 7!!! All of the first size clothes I got for her are far too small and newborn is a bit of a squeeze too (I predict they will last a week maybe….)

I know it’s nice to be all prepared but you can get things delivered really easily/ send someone to the supermarket for a multipack of vests or whatever and people will give you loads of clothes too.

Goldenbunny · 03/03/2022 12:29

I have a least 20 sleep suits and vests in each size some days DS gets change 3-4 times so the more I have the less washing loads I need to do each week.
We have a few outfits in each size too but has a baby I dress them mainly in sleep suits has they are easier to put on.

Caspianberg · 03/03/2022 12:54

Newborn size is usually 50cm. Ds was 54cm born so never fit
