38 weeks and fed up

I'm 38 weeks today and just need to get everything off my chest.

I'm absolutely HUGE and can hardly walk. I just waddle or sometimes limp pathetically along, often in a lot of pain. If I walk too far I get a horrible seizing up sensation in my lower back.

Total strangers have started commenting on my size when I'm doing the nursery run and I just hate it. "Wow that's some bump you have there!" from a man this morning who I'd never seen in my life.

I feel guilty when I can't play with my 3.5 year old as I used to. Everything just hurts.

I'm much heavier than I was in my last pregnancy and find carrying around the extra 4 stone absolutely exhausting. My hands, feet and face are all swollen. I miss being able to wear my rings. All my maternity clothes bar 3 things no longer fit.

I'm honestly so grateful and happy to be pregnant but physically I'm finding it so hard. The not being able to walk bit is the worst.

Anyone else?

Last week the pain was so bad I walked home from nursery in tears and a mum had to walk me home.

Also who said braxton hicks are painless?! I get them every evening and they are very uncomfortable.

I had a very easy pregnancy up until week 37 so feel guilty for complaining because I'm aware I've had it much easier overall than many women.

Complain as much as you like! I’m 38 +2 and also have a 3.5 year old. It’s brutal!
I seem to be able to do barely anything now without my back seizing. I’m stuck wearing leggings and one vest top and one jumper that cover bump. I don’t like going out as it’s cold and my coat won’t do up and folding myself into the car is really uncomfortable. I’m feeling lucky though as I have a c section booked for this week. Definitely ready for it now although can’t quite imagine actually having a baby!

firstimemamma · 28/02/2022 20:45

@Treesuphooray it's so reassuring to know there is someone out there just like me! How exciting you have a c-section booked for this week - the end is in sight now! Congratulations on nearly making it Thanksp.s I know what you mean about the realisation of actually having a baby to look after sinking in, I still can't quite believe it!

Hopefully it won’t be long for you either! There is a mums new Facebook group for mums due in March. Everyone is fed up and in some degree of discomfort- misery loves company as they say! But the babies are arriving now , which is exciting! Let me know if you want to join.

Moan away! Am 33 weeks and baby has def 'moved down' and I can feel the change... waddling, lower back pain, no position standing or sitting is comfortable. The daily comments at work about size of bump .. cue gritted teeth and fake smile ffs. The braxton hicks have started and they are def NOT painless. I have no idea how I'll get through the next 6 weeks! 😩

firstimemamma · 01/03/2022 09:32

@Treesuphooray thanks so much but I'm not on social media.

@yorkshireteaspoonie that sounds really tough. The comments are crap aren't they. Seriously unless it's 'you're glowing' or 'you look amazing' they can forget it! When do you start maternity leave?

@firstimemamma 10 working days left! (Counting them!) for some reason today I feel totally green 🤢 and the only thing I can manage is mint tea. I've also got to make it all the way to 9pm tonight too as it's our first NCT 7pm- 9pm and I'm normally good for nothing by that time of day! 😩

I'm 37 weeks. Can't remember the last time I slept through the night. The acid is making my life miserable. Luckily DD is in reception so I can potter about doing house work in my own time during the school day. Finish work this week so can hopefully begin nesting in earnest. Also the piles are back so feeling really glum. As above even maternity clothes aren't fitting now Shock

firstimemamma · 01/03/2022 11:31

@yorkshireteaspoonie ah you'll soon be in single figures! Hang in there Thanks

@ElliotGoss That all sounds miserable, I'm so sorry to hear about it all! That's handy that your DD is in reception though. My DS starts in September and is at nursery atm so at least I've got the mornings. Hopefully these babies will be here soon. I've got an inkling mine's going to be big Blush

I'm only 35 weeks but I'm similarly fed up. The next few weeks can't go quickly enough.

My children are older so don't need constant supervision, but they're on half term and so I feel like I'm constantly cooking or tidying.

The worst for me is how bad I am at getting back up once I'm lying down or sitting. I really miss being able to just lean forward and grab something! I know that this is a pathetic complaint in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks of school runs and activity drop offs.

Sprat12 · 01/03/2022 15:07

I’m only 31+3 and I’m fed up. I’m not actually huge thankfully, but I have always been very slim so carrying around this bump is killing me off, the idea that it’s only going to get bigger is making me want to cry.

How’s everyone sleeping? I was doing ok-ish until last week and oh my god the pain I am in at night is horrendous. My hips are killing me and I’m waddling everywhere.

Keep going ladies, not too much longer now!

Bawheed · 01/03/2022 21:00

@firstimemamma I could have written your post myself! I'm 38+1 today and I'm done!!

I have a section booked for next Friday (10 days and counting).

My first born is 20 months and full of energy whereas I can barely walk never mind run! So thankful for grandparents support, they are keeping him entertained whilst DH works and I sit slumped on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.

firstimemamma · 02/03/2022 15:20

@Sprat12 I'm normally slim too so can relate there. Sleep is ok-ish. I don't seem to need to wee that much considering my size but rolling over is very painful and ds occasionally wakes at night and it hurts to get up to go and see him. How is your sleep?

@Bawheed sorry to hear you're struggling too. Not much longer left for you now!
