Babies head to low down for sweep??

Just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience of this. I had an appointment for a sweep today but when my midwife tried she said she couldn't get to my cervix because the babies head is so low down. She then got another midwife to try who said the same. I am just wondering if this would make there be a higher chance of labour starting naturally due to his head being so low down? I know there's no real way of telling and he will come when he's ready. Otherwise, they have booked me in for induction on the 9th of March but that still feels like ages away to me Shock thanks x

It sounds like your body just isn’t ready yet. From what you describe, your cervix is still effectively pointing backwards (we describe as posterior). When baby’s head is very low our fingers simply are not long enough to reach! Even if we could reach, a posterior cervix indicates that the body isn’t yet ready & it would be technically impossible to do a sweep.
As the body becomes ready for labour the cervix moves forward, to come straight in line with the vagina.
What is the reason for having induction and what gestation will you be then?

@Sussexmidwife thank you and it is just because by then I will be 41+5 so they have just booked me in on the chance he doesn't arrive on his own before then.

If there is no specific concern about you or your baby I would encourage you to just allow nature to work in it’s own time. If you want some more info to help you make informed decisions I suggest you Google Sara Wickham & her recent book “In your own time”.
