I had a scan last Friday and I was 8 weeks and 2 days and then I had another one tonight and I'm only measuring at 9 weeks ? Has anyone else had this ? I know it's only 2 days out but im now worried something is wrong, although she said there was a strong heartbeat

I’m sure nothing to worry about ☺️

They're so tiny at this stage it's a matter of points of a millimetre. It's very hard to be exact. I've had 4 scans in this pregnancy and my date has changed with every one.

Bells3032 · 25/02/2022 20:42

Honestly mine went back and forth with every scan by up to 5 days. Its really normal. They're so tiny that a fraction of a mm makes a difference and it's hard to be exact. Two days difference is fine

They are too small at this stage for a completely accurate measurement don't worry.

Imissprosecco · 25/02/2022 20:49

There are no guarantees but a heartbeat at 9 weeks is a really good sign. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry

Scans should have a minimum of 2 weeks between them at this stage, for the safety of the developing baby. Spend the money on some relaxation activities for yourself instead.

There is no risk to the developing baby

Say what you want about scans not being good for anxiety but please do not spread further, completely unfounded anxiety. Women tend to be having frequent early scans because they are anxious, and have usually suffered from loss before.

Thank you all so much for the reassurance really appreciate it ♥️

Many early scan places require you to confirm that you haven't had a scan in the previous 2 weeks.

Bells3032 · 26/02/2022 08:58

There is zero danger to baby of frequent scans the only people who have that rule are the NHS and thars more about funding than anything.

At one point I have three scans in ten days because we had the harmony test done and found out we'd lost one of our twins probably hours after the previous scan. I got really anxious so booked another scan a few days later and then had our 12 week scan a week after that. My baby is fine

HW1989 · 26/02/2022 09:29

My early scan showed me almost two weeks behind what I then showed as on my dating scan at 12 weeks, with the dating scan dates being much more accurate to when I would have ovulated. Don’t worry, they’re so small at that point, the most accurate results come when you have your dating scan

This is nothing to do with the risk to the developing baby, this is to do with inconclusive findings- so please stop spreading misinformation to women who are already anxious.

For any panicking mother to be reading this- scans pose no risk to your baby and do not be scared about having them.
