And I'm so tired Sad. No vomiting but awful nausea. What helps?

Speak to your GP. There are anti-sickness)nausea drugs that really can help.

I was sick and nauseous throughout both of my pregnancies and it was grim, you have my sympathies OP. At night I found lying on my back with my knees up helped a bit for some reason (in the earlier stages at least) or propping myself up a bit at the head end. The second time around I sought meds and have to say they did work at quelling the nausea a bit but I couldn't drive on them as they made me really spacey so could only use them in the evenings. Might be worth asking your GP? Hope you're lucky and it subsides soon!

Could it be heartburn?
I thought my nausea had just moved from the morning to the evening when I hit my second trimester but it turned out it was heartburn which always flared up in the evening & made it almost impossible to sleep.

Thank you. It's not heartburn. I feel a bit sad about trying the drugs. I'd prefer natural but I suppose it depends on how long it goes on for Sad

Gaviscon helped my sickness and nausea. I would take it before bed.

I also felt absolutely horrific at night.

And sipping hot water always worked for me - bit weird but there you go!

I have sickness that wakes me up in the night and I’ve found light snacks right before I go to bed helps x

I had this in the first trimester. Some things that helped a bit were:

  • keeping a really bland carbohydrate snack by the bed to take a bite from when I woke up (at 3am). My usual one was oatcakes.
  • eating a smaller portion of dinner and trying to make the food low fat or bland. The nausea was always much worse if I ate something like meatballs, even if I only had a tiny bit.
  • Eating dinner earlier in the evening - around 7pm.
  • I was really tired and had a tendency to fall asleep around 8pm. That meant I was sleeping lightly at the time the nausea was worst. I really tried to stay awake until at least 10pm in the hope I would sleep through the worst part. Not sure how much this helped tbh!

Thank you, I will try taking crackers to bed and see how it goes. I'm so shattered I'm off to bed early tonight

Entirely up to you obviously 😊 but just for my tuppence I felt exactly the same way and suffered all the way through my first pregnancy, I was bloody miserable! I still felt the same about avoiding meds the second time around but with a then 3 year old already in the mix and wanting me to be fun mum all the time I finally 'buckled' and I can remember saying to my dh I felt like an idiot for not pursuing the meds the first time around. You could always ask for a prescription and then they're an option for if it gets really bad, you don't have to take them. But do whatever is best for you and I really hope it passes soon xx

I keep a packet of rich tea biscuits by my bed currently- at 3 am nausea is really bad with this pregnancy, if I try to ignore it, it just gets worse and worse.
