Pregnant with Covid and a booster?

I just wanted to know if anyone else has been in this position because I’m terrified.

I started getting nosebleeds on Sunday and after a few days back and forth to A&E and the ENT ended up having to get my nose packed.
Tomorrow I need to go in and have it removed but if it hasn’t worked I’ll need an operation.

I’m 27 weeks pregnant and have no idea how they’d do this operation since I’ve had no response from any of the maternity services in a week.

Anyway today I found out my most recent hospital PCR got covid has come back positive. I’ve only been to the hospital so must have caught it from there.

I’m terrified. The only person I know who was pregnant and triple vaccinated when they caught covid ended up in hospital.

Has anyone else caught it while pregnant and triple vaccinated? Were your symptoms bad or mild?

(And also what do I do about my appointment tomorrow? The packing is dangerous to leave in, will the operation go ahead?)

(Also apologies if there are similar threads, I had a quick look but couldn’t find what I was looking for and I just feel so scared and alone and wanted some advice or anything really)

I had covid 4 weeks ago and I am only double vaccinated. I delivered a healthy baby girl at 39 weeks on Monday via C-section.

The section had nothing to do with covid, it was due to unstable lie.

Corona gave me a strong, horrible cold with a serious constipated nose and I was suffering while pregnant. I don't want to downplay it.

However, me and baby turned out to be fine and so will be you xx

@teaandchocolate1
That’s reassuring at least, thank you! I’m glad to hear you were both okay - and congratulations!

Hello, I caught covid at 29 weeks, I’m double jabbed and boosted. I felt horrible for 2 days (no energy, coldy, fever) but thereafter felt a heavy cold and just very tired. I kept an oxometer just in case. I hope you’re ok OP, it definitely wasn’t as scary as I thought it may be.

Kikospeedo · 23/02/2022 20:35

Also re your nose, I’d call the hospital and get confirmation if you are able?

RudeBoss · 23/02/2022 20:37

I had covid a couple of weeks ago at 27 weeks too and have been triple jabbed. I felt quite ill one day, but was mainly just bad cold symptoms.

Honeymint · 23/02/2022 20:57

@RudeBoss @Kikospeedo
Thank you so much guys, that sounds reassuring!

I’m ringing the hospital first thing in the morning about the nose (I’ll ring maternity again as well, but it’ll be the fifth time and I’m not holding out hope for a reply 😬)

I caught covid last week & today is my due date. I am triple vaccinated & have just had a sore throat/cough.
Probably a bit more tired & breathless than I would normally be (being this pregnant!)
The worst part is having to isolate from my husband because I'm desperate for him to stay negative so he can still accompany me if I go into labour!
Fingers crossed you will also have mild symptoms & recover soon & be able to have your surgery.

AwkwardPaws27 · 23/02/2022 21:57

I'm 27 weeks, had covid for the last couple of weeks. Out of isolation now but got a nasty cough still. Felt pretty rough and tired but nowhere near bad enough for hospitalisation.

I'd just love to stop coughing!

Double vaccinated, & had booster in mid December.

Maria1982 · 23/02/2022 22:04

I had covid at Christmas while 29 weeks pregnant. Vaccinated and had just had my booster - in fact pretty sure I already had covid when I got the booster as was coughing within 48 hours.

It wasn’t fun - a week of intensive coughing - but both baby and I were fine (now 38 weeks and impatiently awaiting baby…)

As to your appointment- I would call hospital and ask. I had to go in for an extra scan while still covid positive and the hospital were fab-had a separate room set up for covid positive maternity care.

posey6 · 23/02/2022 22:08

I had covid when I was double vaccinated- booster was booked for the day I got symptoms. Luckily had no respiratory issues at all. Had an aching back, blocked nose and was very tired.

SickAndTiredAgain · 23/02/2022 22:10

Had it a couple of weeks ago at 25 weeks pregnant (also triple jabbed). I had pretty mild cold symptoms and then a day of abdominal cramps and very mild diarrhoea. I did call triage about the pain but they said it sounded gastric and could happen with covid and not to worry.

The advice was to call triage as soon as you tested positive, and they sent out an oximeter which was delivered the next day, and arranged for a Dr to call me to follow up. They do this for all pregnant women at my hospital so yours might do similar.

Honeymint · 24/02/2022 07:41

Thank you everyone, and thanks for the advice about the odometer - I’ll ask!

I’m so terrified of what’s going to happen today.
If it all goes wrong I could end up having an emergency c section at 27 weeks as they can’t do the other operation without general anaesthetic.

I’ve never been so afraid and so in pain in my whole life.

How did you get on OP?

Nikki037297 · 25/02/2022 10:33

Hi, I’m 8 weeks. Triples vaccines and I’m also covid positive. Feel like pooooop. Just keep vomiting not sure if it’s the covid or the morning sickness but it seams a bit extreme for morning sickness. Besides that it feels like a bad cold. I have to keep coughing up mucus and blowing my nose. I’m tried. Achy, headaches, I’m unsure where this wills end up but so far I’m managing well at home besides the vomiting.

Honeymint · 25/02/2022 20:20

@dairymilkbuttons

How did you get on OP?
Thank you for asking! After a lot of stress around not being able to get in contact with anyone, my mother rang PALS and they got the maternity and ENT departments to communicate.

For now I’ve avoided an operation, some people from the ENT department came to one of the covid exclusion rooms in the maternity unit to treat me.

Covid-wise I feel quite wobbly, stuffy and my ears are ringing but it’s early days. I’m hoping the symptoms will be mild!

@Nikki037297 That sounds so rough! Pregnancy sickness and covid together sounds like a terrible time and I hope you start to feel better soon! Flowers

@Honeymint thank you it’s really not a good mix at all lol

sunshine423 · 25/02/2022 22:48

I tested positive with Covid at 28 weeks in January. Triple vaccinated and I'm assuming it was the Omicron variant. I had been so anxious about catching it but was grateful to be completely fine other than a mild cold for a couple of days. Did find I was getting headaches towards the end but I wondered if it was due to spending 10 days in the house as they cleared up quickly after! Have had a couple of growth scans since (this is a high risk pregnancy) and everything looks as expected. Really hope you have a similar experience and manage to get a bit of rest.

BobbleWobble1 · 26/02/2022 11:00

I had covid at 39+6. Triple jabbed. Mild symptoms, basically just a head cold for about 12 hours. When I spoke to my midwife, she reassessed my blood clot risk. I also would have got a growth scan at the end of my isolation and would have been contacted by the hospital covid team. However I had my baby before any of those things happened with no issues. Hope you feel better soon.
