Anyone else who was breech late on, did the baby move to head down position

Look at spinning babies if you haven't already

Dryshampoofordays · 22/02/2022 21:54

Sorry no personal experience of breech baby during pregnancy but I do follow “spinning babies” on social media. They may have useful advice or things you can try to help baby turn.

Dryshampoofordays · 22/02/2022 21:54

Ha, beat me to it!

Greentomatoes21 · 22/02/2022 21:56

Mine didn't, he was resolutely breech for weeks, but the midwives held out hope that he might turn right up to the morning of the planned c section - so I guess it must be possible!

fortunenookie · 22/02/2022 21:58

My second baby was footling breech at 39-+1
Next day in theatre for elective section the pre op scan showed she was now head down and fully engaged.

I’d tried spinning babies etc she was transverse or breech at various points from 37 weeks. For some reason she turned. And I felt it !

Good luck

DC1 turned at 38 weeks. Given that they were quite large (born at 41 +6 at 9 pounds), it bloody hurt and I thought that I might be in labour for a while, until the pain settled down.

Samiamnot · 22/02/2022 22:02

My girl turned at 36 weeks. I'd had a chiropractor perform the Webster technique a few days earlier. No idea if she would have turned anyway.

The spin was bizarre, it happened in the middle of the night and took a few minutes. I felt like a washing machine.

My friends baby did not turn. She had a planned c sec and a good birth experience even though she had hoped for a water birth.

Good luck either way OP

No, mine didn’t turn either. The midwife offered me ECV but did caveat it with ‘he has been comfortably breech for so long now that it probably won’t work’ and so we didn’t bother! She was right, he was a stubborn little thing and seemed very comfortable in there kicking at my bladder every 5 mins!

beanbagpotato · 22/02/2022 22:06

My one was breach at my 38wk scan. Walking seemed very uncomfortable for 3-4 days, all fine for next 2 days and my waters went the following day. He had been manoeuvring himself around cos he was head down and ready to go, had him at precisely 39wks.
So it definitely can happen fairly quickly.

Yes it does bloody hurt my daughter was 9lbs 8 at 39 weeks when born so that really registered when she turned overnight Shock

DS2 was breech at 36 weeks. Midwife made me an appointment for 37 weeks to discuss next steps etc and by that appointment he was head down, although he did end up back to back.

Hersetta427 · 22/02/2022 22:12

DS turned a 39 weeks. Only found out when they gave me a scan as I waited for my spinal
Before my cs. Two days earlier at pre-op appointment she was breech.

I blame the Thai curry we had for dinner the night before !

My baby moved at 36 weeks and I remember the exact time this happened over the course of a couple days as it was so uncomfortable! He was 9lbs13oz 3 days late so he would've been quite big for that gestation! I did a lot of carpet scrubbing 🙈

Nettletea0 · 24/02/2022 00:14

Mine turned at 36 weeks - never felt it so was a surprise at the scan! 😊

52andblue · 24/02/2022 00:30

My 1st was a footling breech. My 2nd was transverse. Both therefore C-Secs. Good luck, I hope your baby turns, but anyway, a healthy birth for you both :)

KT1992 · 24/02/2022 18:23

My daughter turned at 36. Also never felt it

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 24/02/2022 18:28

My second was transverse and a low lying chord. I was put on bedrest at 37 weeks at sent for a scan at 38 weeks and again at 39 weeks.
The 38 week scan showed transverse baby again, so i was booked in for a 39 week scan with the view of staying in hospital and having a c-section. 39 week scan she was head down, never felt her turn, but you could see a massive difference in the shape of my bump. She was born naturally at 41 weeks!

Same here, breech from really early on and consultant said she didn't think there was any point trying to turn with ECV!
They scanned me weekly towards the end, but I could feel she was still head up.
Had a planned C section at 39 weeks which was fine.

XenaAura · 27/02/2022 18:26

My current pregnancy, she was going between breech and transverse for weeks up until 36. She's now head down (40 weeks today)
They should give you another scan to check and then talk about turning your baby manually? Which you can refuse by the way. (I refused mine)
There are other options if baby does not want to turn. Personally I got a bit worried that forcing baby head down would be unnatural >
