Covid during early pregnancy

I’m 7 weeks pregnant and not been well for a couple of days. Well I had what felt like a dry throat since Friday, yesterday I was chesty, sick all day, coughing, aching, head aches, covid test was negative. This morning I felt worse, breathless going up and down stairs. So took another covid test and it’s got a faint line. Iv felt awful all day. Runny nose, feel like I need to cough and I keep coughing and it’s hurting my throat and chest, I’m now house bound not that I feel up to going out. Iv no idea how Iv caught it I’m fully jabbed up, my partner had it last year and I never caught it from him so not sure where it’s came from now. We did go out for a meal on Thursday and it was the day after my throat felt dry but I’m not sure it would happen that quick.
Has anyone else had covid in early pregnancy? Are you more likely to get very poorly because of the pregnancy?

I had covid at about 5 weeks pregnant, all was fine with me and baby. Try not to worry.

You're at risk with covid during the last trimester of your pregnancy because it can cause issues with your breathing which is at its highest risk in your last trimester when you are providing air to your baby's lungs.

I had covid at 30 weeks pregnant, I was fine, as have most pregnant women.

I wouldn't worry.

I had it at 8 weeks pregnant, standard cold really, and out on day 6

Midwife wasn't worried

I have covid now. I'm 5+3. I had the exact symptoms you described. Got a faint positive Saturday and by Sunday it was deep purple lines. I also never caughtvitvwhen my partner had it and I'm triple jabbed but pregnancy lowers your immune system. I'm feeling slightly better today and hoping having it now gives more protection against getting it again this pregnancy

You'll be absolutely fine :) look in to it yourself but taking N-Acetyl Cysteine can make a big difference to COVID recovery and is good in pregnancy anyway. One of the only things pregnant women can take that is really effective!

I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant and had it when I was 7 weeks pregnant. I did feel super tired, that was my main symptom and the tiredness is still lingering but it’s hard to say how much I can attribute to COVID and how much to simple pregnancy fatigue. My midwife is unconcerned and if anything if I was going to get it, perhaps it was a good thing to get it now so that baby may have some immunity.

I was 9 weeks when I had it (now 24) apparently best time to get it in pregnancy is the first trimester. My midwife/doctor weren’t concerned, just told to rest up as much a possible and take it easy

Hi Cas, can I ask if doctor was concerned about any affects on babies development? I am in the same boat now.

Hi EssieMay, can I ask if doctor was concerned about any affects on babies development and how everything is now? I am in the same boat.

Hi @rose19rose. The doctor had no concerns as I have had all 3 vaccinations and early data is suggesting the 1st trimester is the best trimester to catch it if your going to get it in pregnancy. I've had no complications so far and I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. Obviously won't know anything for sure till the scan in just over 3 weeks time but this pregnancy seems to be the same as my other two so far. Try not to worry.

Raindrops2015 · 18/03/2022 15:43

@rose19rose I have it atm. Taking low dose aspirin 75mg to reduce any chances of clotting and staying hydrated.

Thank you so much. I am so worried, I can't stop thinking about it 😢💔
