BFP, over the moon but worried about constant cramping?

Hello, I'm 26 and after a year of trying yesterday I finally got my BFP and am over the moon, it doesn't feel real! I only tried a test as an off hand joke, like "haha wouldn't it be funny if this last test actually worked". And it did! I tested on the second day of my missed period. In the four days before that, id been having quite uncomfortable cramping, exactly like my period was coming. Even now I'm still having cramping throughout the day, it's almost constant. It's not painful as such, just noticeable and uncomfortable. I'll be calling the doctors to book a pre-natal appointment, but is this a sign of something bad? I'm just waiting for the 12 week mark so I relax a little, but that's 8 weeks away! TIA

Congratulations on your BFP! I’m 6 weeks at the moment and I am having some uncomfortable twinges and pressure, more so around 4-5 weeks. I Googled like mad and I think it is supposed to be normal as everything gets itself ready. I have far fewer cramps and twinges now. I’m no medical professional but I think you would only really need to worry if you have painful strong cramps accompanied by bleeding.

I thought I was starting my period, although it was slow in coming, because I’d been having cramps for a few days when I got my BFP. I had cramps until about 9 weeks but nothing wrong, DD is now 3 months. Even though the baby is tiny, your body is getting ready to start moving all your internal organs around to accommodate it growing. It’s worrying though. If you are concerned, ring your early pregnancy unit at your hospital, you’ll find the number online. They’ll listen to your symptoms and possibly call you in for an early scan, they didn’t with me.

Cramping is very normal in the early weeks, your uterus is preparing for a huge change so it’s stretching and changing (sorry not very scientific) I always get this (on fourth baby now), I would only worry if you get bleeding

That's very reassuring thankyou! Yes I think I'll ring the midwife unit today and try to get booked in soonish. I really didn't think I could get pregnant naturally, so part of me thinks it's all just going to go away! Thankyou for your advice
