placenta position incorrect on print out??

Hello All,

I went for my 20 week scan today and the first question I asked was if my placenta was anterior to which the radiographer (I think that's what they're called?) responded saying no it's posterior. Then he repeated it again for the other staff member to note down for my notes so I definitely remember hearing that.

I came home and I was reading through the sheet and I noticed they wrote anterior on my print out in my yellow book. I know that's a mistake so my question is, is it a big deal?? Should I raise it with the midwives or should I call someone to get it corrected?

Hey, OP. Do you have any further scans scheduled?

In practice it's helpful for you to know placenta position because you'll feel baby movements differently with anterior/posterior. Also if you have any issues with placenta later on (obviously hopefully not) it's helpful to know too. Otherwise I'd think it could also be relevant if you were to go in for reduced movements monitoring and to discuss delivery options (eg make sure no placenta praevia etc). So on balance I think I'd want this to be amended in my pregnancy notes. You could ring the antenatal clinic and explain your scan notes are incorrect based on what you were told by the sonographer and ask that they are reviewed. Or, if you have any further scans scheduled you could raise it then.

No I don't have any more scans booked, I will give them a ring today and see what they say ...
