Hi,
Ive just looked over the NHS info on what to eat/not to eat and im worried about being dairy free.

Anyone else dairy free and pregnant and how are you managing to get enough Calcium. Or am I overthinking it?

This is baby no 4 but I was still eating dairy through those pregnancies. I've become progressively intolerant of it and now I'm completely dairy free. Also don't have replacements really (only a splash of oat milk in my morning coffee).

Thanks for any advice 🙏

Totally vegan through two pregnancies and breastfed eldest till she was 2 and ebf youngest 9 month old now

No problem at all! Eat leafy greens, have fortified bread and cereal and take a supplement if you’re concerned

Hi! I'm vegan and so I've put a lot of time into my nutritional planning for this pregnancy. I don't think you're overthinking it. Better safe than sorry, especially since the baby will leech calcium from your bones if you aren't providing it with enough through your diet.
I started out aiming to have a lot of calcium -rich leafy greens like spinach, kale, swiss chard, etc. Unfortunately, my early pregnancy food aversions had other plans. So for right now, I get most of it through almond milk. It's been really easy actually. 1 cup of the brand I buy is equal to 35% of my daily value. So I drink 3 cups a day (105% total) and also get another 15% from my prenatal vitamins (so 120% plus any little bits through other things I'm eating).
Granted, this is just temporary. Once my food aversions calm down, I'm going to aim to get back to getting my calcium from as many varied sources as possible (like all those greens I mentioned).
Anyway, hope that helps!

Thank you both for the reassurance.
I've got to say I'm not that into kale but maybe look at switching to fortified readybrek for breakfast and lots of broccoli. It looks like you need a bit more calcium for BF but not pregnancy so I've got some time to work it out. Thank you!
